LTT WEILER WAS PROMOTED TO CORPORAL IN 1990.

IT WAS NAMED SUPERVISOR THE YEAR IN 1991.

HE WAS PROMOTED TO SERGEANT IN 1992 AND LIEUTENANT IN 2003.

THROUGHOUT HIS ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER, HE HAS ASSISTED MULTIPLE AGENCIES, INCLUDING THE FBI, ARMED ROBBERY, UH, MIDLOTHIAN POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN SEARCH AND RESCUE, DALLAS POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND THE DENTON COUNTY CONSTABLE'S OFFICE.

WE INVITE THE MAYOR, CITY COUNCIL, AND ANYBODY ELSE IN THE AUDIENCE TO JOIN US.

THE OBJECTIVE IS TO, UH, TALK ABOUT PRIORITIES FOR DOWNTOWN AND PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON PHASE TWO FOR DOWNTOWN STREETS AND BUSINESS RETENTION EFFORTS FOR DOWNTOWN ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31ST.

WE UNFORTUNATELY HAVE ANOTHER RETIREMENT CEREMONY FOR OUR REALLY AMAZING PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TOM JOHNSON.

SERVED THE CITY FOR SEVEN YEARS AT THE ALLEN E SIMS RECREATION CENTER.

WE'RE SAD TO SEE HIM GO, AND AS MUCH AS WE BEGGED HIM, HE, UH, HAS DECIDED HE'S GOING TO RETIRE.

THAT'S AT ONE 30 NEXT WEDNESDAY.

UH, NEXT THURSDAY IS THE NEW YEAR'S FIRST MAYOR'S PRAYER BREAKFAST AT 7:30 AM AT THE CEDAR HILL RECREATION CENTER.

AND DURING HIS 31 YEARS WITH AUSTIN FIRE DEPARTMENT, HE HAS MANAGED SEVERAL DIVISIONS, INCLUDING MEDICAL OPERATIONS, FIRE OPERATIONS, WELLNESS, FIRE PREVENTION, INVESTIGATIONS, WILDFIRE, RECRUITING HUMAN RESOURCES.

THIS FEE IS ONLY IMPACTS THE ADVERTISEMENT FEE FOR FUTURE ZONING CASES, AND IT'S GOING FROM $50 TO $75.

ALL THE OTHER FEES STAND AND WERE ADOPTED IN OCTOBER, 2023.

IN TERMS OF CONSENT AGENDA, YOU HAVE THE MINUTES AND OUR MULTIPLE FLOCK SAFETY GROUP, UH, UH, FIVE YEAR AGREEMENTS, BOTH WITH THE CITY AND TWO PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS.

UH, WE ALSO HAVE, UH, SOME EXTRA FUNDS FROM THE LAGOON PROJECT FOR THE 2017 BOND.

WE HAVE ABOUT $200,000 IN EXCESS FUNDS, AND WE'D LIKE TO SPEND, UH, 80,000 OF THE THOSE FUNDS AND WITH SUNBELT POOLS AND $70,000 WITH WARWICK'S DESIGNED FOR ADDITIONAL, UH, SHADE CANOPY AND ADDITIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE TO HELP ENSURE THAT IN THE EVENT A MOTOR GOES OUT, WE HAVE SOME, UH, CONTINGENCY PLANS FOR THE NEXT SEASON.

ALSO, WE, WE WILL HAVE THE ORDINANCE 20 24 8 0 2, WE'LL READ THAT AND, UH, CONSIDER ADOPTION OF THAT ORDINANCE.

UM, EMS MEDICAL SUPPLIES FROM BOUNDARY MEDICAL IN THE AMOUNT OF $105,000.

UH, THIS WAS BUDGETED AND GOING FORWARD, WE WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU, UM, IN THE AGENDA ITEM THAT WE WILL PUT THE ACTUAL BUDGETED AMOUNT ANNUALLY SO THAT YOU HAVE THAT INFORMATION.

UH, THE ITEM G IS FOR THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A FIVE-YEAR AGREEMENT OF FLOCK SAFETY.

THE FLOCK SAFETY, UH, CAMERAS ARE A REALLY POPULAR ITEM AND WATERFORD OAKS HAS SEVERAL OF THEM.

THEY WANT, UH, TO GET AN APPROVAL FROM THE CITY COUNCIL FOR MOUNTAIN NOT TO EXCEED $75,000.

AND THEN IN THE NEXT AGENDA ITEM ON J ITEM H FOR HIGH POINT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT, THEY HAVE SEVERAL AS WELL, AND NOT TO EXCEED 87,500.

AND THAT IS FOR TWO FIVE YEAR AGREEMENTS FOR BOTH PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS.

IT'S A PLEASURE TO BE HERE TONIGHT TO PRESENT AN UPDATE OF TWO CODE ENFORCEMENT PROGRAMS. THE FIRST ONE BEING OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP, AND THEN

SINGLE FAMILY RENTAL REGISTRATION PROGRAM.

UM, THESE PROGRAMS ARE IMPLEMENTED WITH THE CITY COUNCIL'S, CAN'T REALLY LEAN ON THIS VISION AND MISSION AND VALUES IN MIND.

IN ADDITION, AS WE IMPLEMENT ANY PROGRAMS, WE ARE ALWAYS PURSUING PREMIER IN THIS.

AND IN THIS CASE, WE ARE PURSUING CLEAN, SAFE, DISREGARD AND ENGAGED COMMUNITY.

SO TONIGHT WE'RE GOING TO GO OVER THE OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP RECAP OF 2023 LAST YEAR, AND THEN THE CONSIDERATION OF THE 2024 NEIGHBORHOOD FOR OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP.

AND THEN WE'LL ALSO BE PROVIDING AN UPDATE OF THE SINGLE FAMILY RENTAL REGISTRATION PROGRAM.

THE OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP PROGRAM WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 2010, MAINLY TO ALLOW FOR MORE COMPREHENSIVE INSPECTION PROGRAM OF PROPERTIES IN A SPECIFIC NEIGHBORHOOD.

OFFICERS CHECK EVERY PROPERTY FOR CODE COMPLIANCE ISSUES, BUT ULTIMATELY, THIS PROGRAM HAS REALLY EVOLVED INTO OPPORTUNITIES FOR CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TO DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH CITIZENS AND PROPERTY OWNERS.

THE OPERATION CLEAN SUITE PROGRAM ALSO ALLOWS CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TO CONSIDER CITY COUNCIL PRIORITIES THROUGH PEOPLE AND RELATIONSHIPS WHILE CONNECTING WITH RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, ENGAGING WITH NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS AND RESIDENTS, AND THEN NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION WITH AESTHETICS AND NEIGHBORHOOD PRIDE.

THIS SLIDE'S KIND OF BUSY, BUT IT GIVES A HISTORY OF THE OPERATION CLEAN SUITE PROGRAM, UM, WITH THE FIRST ONE DOWN AT THE BOTTOM, STARTING IN 2010 WITH THE HIGHLAND SOUTH NEIGHBORHOOD.

AND THEN THE MOST RECENT ONE AT THE TOP WITH THE 2023 STONE WOOD HEIGHTS NORTH.

UM, WE INSPECTED 555 PROPERTIES.

THERE WERE 210 PROPERTIES WITH VIOLATIONS, WHICH IS 38% OF THE PROPERTIES INSPECTED.

I KNOW LAST YEAR WHEN I GAVE AN UPDATE OF OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP, MAYOR PRAM BROUGHT UP, UM, HOPING TO SEE A REDUCTION IN VIOLATIONS.

AND IN 2014, STONE WOOD HEIGHTS, WE DID THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD.

WE DIDN'T JUST DO A PORTION OF IT, BUT WE DID THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD OF 873 AND THEY HAD A 62% VIOLATION RATE.

WHERE THIS YEAR WE DID, OR THIS PAST YEAR, WE DID 555 PROPERTIES, JUST THE NORTH SIDE OF STONE WOOD HEIGHTS, AND THEY ONLY HAD A 38% VIOLATION RATE.

SO I THINK WE CAN SEE THAT THERE IS SOME REDUCTION IN VIOLATIONS IF WE DO REPEAT NEIGHBORHOODS OVER SEVERAL YEARS.

HERE'S ANOTHER, UH, SNAPSHOT OF, UH, THE HISTORY OF THE NEIGHBORHOODS.

YOU'LL SEE ON THE RIGHT, THERE'S A MAP OF MOST OF THOSE NEIGHBORHOODS.

BEING ON THE EAST SIDE OF 67, AGAIN, WE INSPECTED FIF 555 PROPERTIES.

WE NOTED 210 PROPERTIES WITH AT LEAST ONE VIOLATION.

WE DO CURRENTLY HAVE 15 CASES OPEN.

SO WE HAD A HUNDRED, 121 OF THOSE.

WE DISCOVERED 18 PROPERTIES THAT DID NOT HAVE THEIR SINGLE FAMILY RENTAL REGISTRATION.

UM, CURRENT 27 FENCE 10, TRASH AND DEBRIS, DEBRIS, 24 ADDRESS NUMBERS 20 OUTSIDE STORAGE.

AND THEN WE HAD OVERHANGING LIMBS, TALL GRASS, JUNK VEHICLES, AND THEN OTHER VIOLATIONS FOR A TOTAL OF 271.

SO THE 2024 NEIGHBORHOOD FOR, UH, CONSIDERATION IS KINGSWOOD KINGSWOOD WAS DEVELOPED IN 1968 WITH THREE, THEY HAVE 390 PARCELS, AND THEY ARE ORGANIZED AS A VOLUNTARY.

HOA KINGSWOOD IS A UNIQUE NEIGHBORHOOD WITH REALLY THE NORTH SIDE OF KINGSWOOD DRIVE, WHICH WOULD BE, I GUESS WHAT YOU WOULD CONSIDER THE OLDER PART OF THE KINGSWOOD.

AND THEY DON'T HAVE ANY CURB AND GUTTER IN THEIR, UH, POWER LINES ARE OVERHEAD WHERE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF KINGSWOOD DRIVE, UM, THE NEWER HOMES, THE NEWER DEVELOPMENT, UM, THEY DO HAVE CURB AND GUTTER AND THEIR POWER LINES ARE UNDERGROUND.

AND, UH, ALSO I NOTED UP THERE AT THE TOP THAT THEY ARE ON THE WEST SIDE OF 67.

SO CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WILL RECORD ALL INSPECTION RESULTS.

UH, VIOLATIONS WILL BE INSPECT

REINSPECTED FOR COMPLIANCE THROUGHOUT THE PROGRAM.

AND ANY REMAINING AREAS OF NON-COMPLIANCE WILL CONTINUE TO BE TRACKED WITH THE AREA CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.

SO ALL THE CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS PRETTY MUCH TEAM UP TO START OFF THIS PROGRAM.

ONCE THOSE INITIAL INSPECTIONS ARE DONE, THEN THEY ARE ALL THEN ASSIGNED OVER TO THE AREA CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, AND THEY WILL FOLLOW THESE CASES TO COMPLIANCE.

AND THEN CITY COUNCIL WILL RECEIVE AN UPDATE AT COMPLETION.

I WILL GO OVER THE PROCESS OF THE PROGRAM.

UM, ONCE CITY COUNCIL APPROVES A NEIGHBORHOOD FOR CONSIDERATION, SIGNS ARE PLACED AT THE ENTRANCES OF SELECTED NEIGHBORHOODS.

UH, POSTCARDS ARE ALSO MAILED TO EVERY RESIDENT WITHIN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, UH, PRIOR TO THE SWEEP.

UM, THERE'S AN EXAMPLE OF IT THERE ON THE SCREEN.

UH, THE POSTCARD WILL GIVE COMMON CODE VIOLATIONS THAT WE WOULD BE LOOKING FOR OUR CONTACT INFORMATION.

WE ALSO USE THIS AS AN EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE THEM INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM OR REALLY ANY PROGRAM AS IT RELATES TO CODE AND NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES.

UM, A TEAM OF TWO CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS INSPECT EACH PROPERTY IN THE SELECTED AREA.

WE WILL HAVE TWO TEAMS OF TWO.

UM, ONCE THEY GO BACK FOR A REINSPECTION, USUALLY WITHIN SEVEN TO 10 DAYS, IF THE VIOLATION IS STILL, UH, EXISTS, A NOTICE OF VIOLATION WILL BE MAILED THEN TO THE PROPERTY OWNER.

AND THEN THIS WILL BE TURNED OVER FOR ENFORCEMENT TO THE AREA CODE OFFICER.

IN JUNE OF 2018, NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES PROVIDED AN UPDATE TO CITY COUNCIL, INCLUDING THE NEIGHBORHOOD ADVISORY BOARD WORK, MENTIONING A POTENTIAL SINGLE FAMILY RENTAL PROGRAM.

IN, UH, SEPTEMBER OF 2019.

UM, CODE ENFORCEMENT ALSO PROVIDED AN UPDATE TO CITY COUNCIL, INCLUDING, UH, A PROGRAM THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD INTEGRITY PROGRAM.

AND THEN IN OCTOBER OF 2019, CITY COUNCIL APPROVED THE SINGLE FAMILY RENTAL REGISTRATION

PROGRAM THROUGH THE BUDGET, UH, PROCESS THAT YEAR.

AND THEN IN MAY OF 2020, A BRIEFING WAS CONDUCTED TO CITY COUNCIL REVIEWING A PROPOSED SINGLE FAMILY RENTAL PROGRAM.

AND DURING THAT UPDATE IN MAY, UH, CITY COUNCIL'S DESIRE WAS TO CREATE A COMMITTEE TO ASSIST IN THE DESIGN OF THE PROGRAM.

SO, ON MAY 26TH OF THAT YEAR, THE COMMITTEE WAS ESTABLISHED BY CITY COUNCIL CONSISTING OF LANDLORDS, TENANTS, PROPERTY OWNERS, NEIGHBORHOODS, NEIGHBOR NEIGHBORS, NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS, AND ALSO REALTORS AND OTHER CITIZENS.

UH, SO DURING AUGUST OF 2020, THE WORKSHOPS WERE HELD ONCE A WEEK FOR FOUR WEEKS, UH, TO DISCUSS PROGRAM DETAILS, IDEAS, AND ULTIMATELY GIVE RECOMMENDATIONS TO CITY COUNCIL.

SO DURING, UH, BRIEFING IN SEPTEMBER, UH, 22ND, 2020, UH, CITY COUNCIL DID RECEIVE THAT UPDATE OF COMMITTEE WORK ON THE SINGLE FAMILY RENTAL PROGRAM.

OCTOBER OF THAT YEAR, UH, CITY COUNCIL WAS PRESENTED A DRAFT ORDINANCE.

AND THEN IN NOVEMBER OF 2020, THE ORDINANCE WAS ADOPTED WITH THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF JANUARY 1ST, 2021.

SO YOU CAN SEE THERE WERE FIVE YEARS OF WORK LEADING UP TO THIS ORDINANCE AND VERY THOUGHT, THOUGHTFUL.

UH, THE COMMITTEE DID ESTABLISH GOALS.

THEY WANTED THIS PROGRAM TO BE COST NEUTRAL.

UM, THEY WANTED STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS CONSISTENT WITH THOSE OF OWNER OCCUPIED HOMES.

THEY DIDN'T WANT, UH, TENANT OCCUPIED HOMES TO HAVE DIFFERENT RULES THAN OWNER OCCUPIED HOMES.

UM, THEY WANTED THE PROCESS TO BE EXTREMELY STREAMLINED AND EFFICIENT, LITTLE BURDEN ON LANDLORDS ADMINISTRATIVELY.

AND THEY WANTED TO ENSURE THAT WE WERE ABLE TO OBTAIN ACCURATE DATA ON OWNERS AND TENANTS.

IN DECEMBER OF 2019, WE HIRED CINDY GUZMAN AS THE CODE ENFORCEMENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST TO ASSIST IN IMPLEMENTING THIS PROGRAM.

AND SHE STILL CURRENTLY MANAGES THIS PROGRAM.

UM, SHE IS ALSO LICENSED AS A CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATIONS.

SO SHE KNOWS ABOUT THE ENFORCEMENT SIDE OF THIS AND ALSO THE ADMINISTRATIVE SIDE.

SHE IS BILINGUAL.

SHE WAS AWARDED EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER IN JANUARY OF 2022.

AND JUST LAST MONTH, SHE WAS AWARDED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LEADER OF THE YEAR FOR 2023.

IF YOU HAVE A CORPORATION OR AN LLC THAT OWNS THESE PROPERTIES, WE REQUIRE THEM TO GIVE US A LOCAL PROPERTY MANAGER THAT WE CAN, UH, DISCUSS, UM, VIOLATIONS WITH.

AND THE, UH, SNAPSHOT OF THE WEBSITE IS THERE ON THE RIGHT OF YOUR SCREEN FOR, UH, PROPERTY OWNERS, FOR PROPERTY OWNERS TO REGISTER THEIR PROPERTIES.

WHEN A REGISTERED PROPERTY IS LEASED, THE PROPERTY OWNER THEN COMPLETES AN RRCO APPLICATION.

SO IF A LANDLORD HAS A TENANT THAT CHANGES EVERY THREE MONTHS, THEY'RE GOING TO COMPLETE A NEW APPLICATION EACH TIME.

IF A TENANT LIVES THERE 5, 6, 7 YEARS, THEY'RE ONLY GONNA DO THAT WHEN THEIR TENANT CHANGES.

BUT THEY STILL WILL HAVE TO MAINTAIN THEIR ANNUAL REGISTRATION FOR THE PROPERTY.

EXTERIOR INSPECTIONS ARE DONE ONLY WHEN, UH, THERE IS A CHANGE IN OCCUPANCY.

SO WHEN A NEW RRCO IS ISSUED, AN EXTERIOR INSPECTION IS CONDUCTED ON THE PROPERTY WITHIN 30 DAYS BY THE CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.

IF A VIOLATION EXISTS, NOTICE WILL BE SENT TO THE PROPERTY OWNER AND WILL BE WORKED IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE.

AGAIN, IT'S NOT A SEPARATE CODE THAN OWNER OCCUPIED, UH, PROPERTIES AND AGAIN, START THAT PROCESS OF SEVEN DAYS TO COMPLY.

TYPICALLY, UM, THESE TYPES OF INSPECTIONS FOR OUR COS, THE VIOLATIONS ARE VERY MINOR.

UM, WE HAVE FOUND, ESPECIALLY AS THE PROGRAM GOES ON, PROPERTY OWNERS AND LANDLORDS ARE TAKEN BETTER CARE OF THEIR PROPERTIES.

I'LL, UH, NOW SHOW YOU SOME STATS AS IT RELATES TO INSPECTIONS.

WHILE CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ARE WORKING CASES IN THE FIELD, AND IF IT'S TENANT OCCUPIED, THEY ALWAYS CHECK TO SEE IF THE PROPERTY IS REGISTERED.

SO IF THEY'RE OUT WORKING, UH, CASES, THEY COME BACK INTO, UH, THE OFFICE, THEY'LL CHECK ALL THE ONES THAT THEY HAVE WROTE UP FOR THE DAY TO SEE IF THEY'RE OWNER OR TENANT OCCUPIED.

AND THEN IF THEY FIND THEIR TENANT OCCUPIED, THEY WILL CHECK TO SEE IF THEY ARE REGISTERED.

UM, SINCE THE START OF THE PROGRAM,

THEY HAVE FOUND 872 VIOLATIONS DISCOVERED THAT THEY WERE NOT REGISTERED WHILE WORKING OTHER CODE VIOLATIONS.

AND SINCE THE START OF THE PROGRAM, WE HAVE ISSUED 24 CITATIONS FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER PROPERTIES.

WHEN A NEW RRCO IS ISSUED, THE CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, LIKE I SAID, IN INSPECT THE PROPERTY FOR VIOLATIONS IN 30 DAYS.

UM, SO TO DATE, THEY'VE DONE APPROXIMATELY, PROBABLY A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN THAT, 1600 RRCO INSPECTIONS.

AND OF THOSE INSPECTIONS THEY'VE NOTED 304 PROPERTIES WITH CODE VIOLATIONS ABOUT 18%.

WHEN I PROVIDED THIS UPDATE A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, I THINK WE WERE AT 20%.

SO IT'S REDUCED A LITTLE BIT.

AND USUALLY THOSE TYPES OF VIOLATIONS REALLY ARE JUST EXTERIOR SURFACE, MAYBE MINOR FENCE ISSUES, TRASH AND DEBRIS AND ADDRESS NUMBERS IS A COMMON VIOLATION THAT WE FIND ON THESE INSPECTIONS.

SOME MORE STATISTICS AS IT RELATES TO REGISTRATION.

IN 2021, WE HAD 1,875 PROPERTIES REGISTER.

THAT WAS WHEN THE PROGRAM STARTED.

IF YOU REMEMBER, UH, FROM JANUARY ONE TO JUNE, WE GAVE A REDUCED FEE, UM, IF PROPERTY OWNERS REDUCED OR, UH, REGISTERED THE PROPERTIES.

UM, BY JUNE 1ST, 2022, WE HAD 2,484.

2023, WE HAVE 2,337.

THAT NUMBER IS SLIGHTLY LESS.

DECEMBER AND JANUARY ARE OUR BUSIEST MONTHS FOR PROPERTY OWNERS, LANDLORDS TO SEND IN THE REGISTRATIONS BECAUSE WE STARTED THE PROGRAM IN DECEMBER, JANUARY OF THAT YEAR.

AND SO, UM, WE GET A LOT OF THEM IN DURING THOSE MONTHS.

SO THAT COULD BE A LITTLE BIT OF A BACKLOG WHEN I RAN THOSE NUMBERS.

UM, WE ARE STILL WORKING ON THOSE AND THEY COULD ALSO BE IN ENFORCEMENT WHERE THEY DIDN'T REGISTER.

SO WE'RE NOW WE'RE OPENING CASES.

OUR RCOS ISSUED IN 2021, 1,250.

AGAIN, THAT WAS THE START OF THE PROGRAM, TRYING TO GET ALL THE, UH, TENANTS, UH, REGISTERED.

AND THEN 20 22 5 40 20 23, 5 96.

SO THOSE NUMBERS ARE TELLING US DURING 2022 THERE WERE 540 TENANT CHANGE OUTS.

WITH ALL THE REGISTRATIONS THAT WE HAVE, AGAIN, GOING BACK TO THE GOALS THAT THE, UH, COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED, WE FEEL LIKE WE HAVE CHECKED THESE BOXES.

WE DO FEEL LIKE THE CO THE PROGRAM IS COST NEUTRAL.

UH, THE STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS ARE CONSISTENT WITH THOSE OF OWNER OCCUPIED HOMES.

WE DON'T HAVE SEPARATE RULES.

UH, IT IS STREAMLINED AND EFFICIENT.

WE HOPE IT'S LIMITED BURDEN ON LANDLORDS, ADMINISTRATIVELY.

I WANNA START OUT THIS PRES, UH, PRESENTATION IN A FAMILIAR WAY, AT LEAST FAMILIAR FOR ME, UH, SINCE WE'RE BE SO CLOSELY ALIGNED WITH THE LIBRARY AND BY EXTENSION, THE CITY, UM, MISCONCEPTIONS ARE BOUND TO ARISE ABOUT THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE MUSEUM, MUCH LIKE THEY DO WITH THE CITY AND THE, UH, CEDAR HILL, ISD.

UM, SO, SO WE'RE MAKING AN EFFORT TO MODEL OUR CONDUCT AND MANAGEMENT AFTER THE CITY COUNCIL.

SO THEREFORE, WE'LL BE LEADING OFF THIS PRESENTATION WITH OUR VISION AND MISSION, VISION AND MISSION STATEMENTS.

SO, UH, JUST A BRIEF BACKGROUND ABOUT OUR MUSEUM.

UH, OUR FOUNDING ORGANIZATION DATES BACK TO, UH, 1978.

THEN IN 2006, OUR 5 0 1 C3 WAS ESTABLISHED AT THE CEDAR HU MUSEUM OF HISTORY.

WE'RE GOVERNED BY 13 MEMBER BOARD OF TRUSTEES, INCLUDING THE EXECUTIVE BOARD, AND WE HAVE THREE ADDITIONAL HONORARY TRUSTEES AMONG THEM, UM, JR HICKMAN, GEORGIA KWAY AND JERRY WEST.

AND, UH, WE HAVE SEVEN COMMITTEES THAT WORKED REALLY HARD OVER THE PAST 18 TO 24

MONTHS.

UH, IN PREPARATION FOR THIS PROJECT, UH, AS A TEAM, AS THIS 20 YEAR PLUS DREAM OF, UH, PERMANENT MUSEUM COMES TO FRUITION, THE BOARD BEGAN TO RESEARCH MUSEUMS, UH, MAINLY AROUND THE NORTH TEXAS AREA.

AND, UH, DESIGNERS FOR THOSE VENUES.

OUR ORIGINAL CHOICE WAS A DESIGNER OUT A DESIGN FIRM OUT OF AUSTIN, WOMEN OWNED, UH, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DELIVER ON OUR TIMELINE.

SO WE ULTIMATELY CHOSE THE DALLAS FIRM OF MUSEUM ARTS.

UH, THEY WERE FOUNDED IN 1981 BY THE LATE CHARLES PARAMORE.

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU RECOGNIZE THE NAME, UH, NOTICE THE LAST NAME.

BUT WE TOOK THAT AS A SIGN THAT THIS WAS THE RIGHT FIRM FOR US.

AND IT'S LED BY, UH, TODAY BY SUN PHIL.

IT'S AN INCREDIBLY TALENTED, ALBEIT QUIRKY TEAM WITH EXCEPTIONAL DESIGN, PRODUCTION AND INSTALLATION SKILLS.

AND THEY HAVE AN IN, IN-HOUSE, UM, FABRICATION FACILITY IN DALLAS.

SO THAT MAKES IT MUCH MORE CONVENIENT FOR US.

UM, THESE ARE SOME OF THE, UH, EXAMPLES OF SOME OF THEIR, UM, MUSEUM SPECIFIC PROJECTS AS WELL AS SOME OF THEIR CORPORATE, UH, CLIENTS.

NOW, THEIR PROCESS IS RIGOROUS, BUT IT WAS WELL WORTH THE TIME THAT WE PUT INTO IT.

WE STARTED WITH A STORYTELLER, A PROFESSIONAL STORYTELLER, UM, TO DEVELOP OUR MESS MESSAGE.

WE NARROWED IT DOWN TO, UH, THE THEMES OF NATURE SETTLERS COMMERCE.

UH, AND SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH, MATTER OF FACT, NATURE WAS WEIGHTED AS THE HIGHEST AMONG OUR STORIES TO TELL.

AND SO, YOU KNOW, THIS'LL COME FIRST C FULL CIRCLE FOR US.

ULTIMATELY, OUR STORYLINE WAS DEVELOPED AND WE BEGAN, UM, POPULATING THEIR, UM, WEBSITE, OR PARDON ME, THEIR, UH, TEAM WITH DOCUMENTS, IMAGERY, ARTIFACTS THAT, UM, PERTAIN TO OUR STORY.

AND THEN OUR CONCEPT WAS DEVELOPED WITH, UH, EXHIBIT LAYOUTS, WORKFLOWS, AND TIMELINES.
