SO LET'S SAY CARPORT WAS ON, THE ACTUAL PERMIT WAS 28 BY 28 BY SOMETHING.

I DON'T REMEMBER THE ACTUAL HEIGHT.

SO WE ACTUALLY EVEN MADE IT SMALLER.

WE CONSTRUCTED IT, IT WAS LIKE 26 BY 28 BY SOMETHING, RIGHT? SO WE MADE IT SMALLER FROM WHAT WE INITIALLY SUBMITTED TO THE CITY TO TRY TO PREVENT THIS ISSUE.

BUT EVEN THEN, IT JUST, WHEN WE ACTUALLY GOT, HAD LANCE COME OUT AND DO THE INSPECTION, HE SAID THAT IT WAS JUST TOO FAR OFF AND THE BILL LINES NEEDED TO CHANGE ON THE ACTUAL PROPERTY.

WELL, I, I GUESS WHAT I WAS JUST TRYING TO BRING OUT IS, UH, OBVIOUSLY YOU'RE FORTUNATE IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE BECAUSE IT'S REALLY NOT CREATING A HUGE ISSUE.

AND WHEN WE'RE BUILDING THIS BEAUTIFUL ONE OF A KIND LIBRARY, THAT SPACE IS BEING DEDICATED TO THE PRESERVATION OF THE HISTORY OF THE CITY.

THE CEDAR HILL HISTORICAL SOCIETY ORGANIZED IN 1980 AND STARTED DOING BUSINESS AS THE CEDAR HILL MUSEUM OF HISTORY IN 2006.

IT HAS BEEN A LONG-TERM GOAL AND DREAM OF THE SOCIETY TO HAVE A FIRST CLASS MUSEUM IN CEDAR HILL.

WE CAME BEFORE YOU IN 2019, SEEKING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TO HAVE A LEASE IN THE MUSEUM IN THE NEW LIBRARY.

TONIGHT WE COME BEFORE YOU TO THANK MAYOR MASON AND THE CITY COUNCIL FOR SUPPORTING THE MUSEUM AND SUPPORTING, UH, APPROVING THE LEASE.

WE ALSO WANT TO THANK CITY MANAGER GREG PORTER AND THE CITY STAFF FOR WORKING WITH US ON THIS PROJECT.

SHE HAS PUT THIS BOOK TOGETHER WITH ALL THE, THE CONSTITUTION, THE BILL OF RIGHTS, ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL AMERICAN POEMS. AND THIS IS FROM HER BOOK.

SHE SAYS, THE STORY OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION IN 1776 HAS A SPECIAL APPEAL FOR CHILDREN WHO IDENTIFY WITH THE TRIUMPH OF A RAG TAG, COLONIST, THE OVERPOWERED, THE KING OF ENGLAND.

IT APPEALS TO THEIR LOVE OF THE UNDERDOG, THEIR SENSE OF FAIRNESS, AND A DESIRE FOR A HAPPY ENDING.

CHILDREN HAVE AN IMMENSE CAPACITY FOR FAITH AND FOR PATRIOTISM IF THEY'RE INTRODUCED TO THE STORY OF OUR COUNTRY.

IT'S CAPTIVATING.

THEY CAN DEVELOP A LIFELONG INTEREST IN HISTORY AND A WILLINGNESS TO ENGAGE IN CIVIC LIFE.

YOU'RE GIVING THE CHILDREN OF THIS COMMUNITY THE OPPORTUNITY TO SAVE THE HISTORY OF THE PAST OF CEDAR HEALTH.

WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN STORIES THAT DESERVE TO BE REMEMBERED, AND OUR MUSEUM OF HISTORY BE TELLING THESE STORIES.
