2023 IS ALREADY DESTINED TO BE A, A MIGHTY YEAR FOR US.

SO, UM, ON BEHALF THE STAFF, I WANT TO, UH, EXPRESS, UH, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU, UH, AND OUR APPRECIATION FOR REALLY ALL OF THE INCREDIBLE WORK THAT, UH, UH, YOU GUYS SPENT, UH, GUIDING US AND BEING OUT IN THE COMMUNITY, UH, CRAFTING PLANS FOR ALL OF 2022.

WE'RE VERY PROUD OF YOUR WORK.

WE'RE EXCITED FOR WHAT WE'VE ACCOMPLISHED, AND WE'RE EVEN MORE EXCITED, UH, TO WORK WITH YOU TO DELIVER THE VERY AMBITIOUS GOALS THAT YOU GUYS HAVE SET FOR US FOR 2023.

WE HAVE A, A NUMBER OF ITEMS TO GET YOU CAUGHT UP OF AS WE KICK OFF 2023.

UH, WANNA GO OVER THE, UH, CALENDAR, PRETTY BRIEF, PRETTY BRIEFLY, BUT AS YOU CAN TELL, THIS IS A VERY BUSY MONTH, AND WE'RE HEADING INTO A VERY BUSY, UH, FIRST QUARTER, UH, FOR THIS YEAR.

SO THIS VERY FRIDAY, JANUARY 13TH, FROM FOUR TO 6:00 PM WE WILL BE CELEBRATING, UH, THE IMPROVEMENTS AND ALL OF THE ACTIVITY AND THE MOMENTUM THAT'S BEING BUILT IN, UH, DOWNTOWN CEDAR HILL.

AS YOU KNOW, THIS IS, UH, DEFINITELY NOT SOMETHING THAT IS, UM, UH, HAPPENING BY HAPPENSTANCE.

THIS HAS BEEN THE RESULT OF A LOT OF DELIBERATE PLANNING AND ACTION ON THE PART OF YOU, THE COMMUNITY, UH, AND OUR STAFF.

SO, WE WILL BE GATHERING ON SOUTH BROAD AT THE, UH, INTERSECTION OF BROAD AND CEDAR, AND CELEBRATING THE, UH, COMPLETION OF THE, UH, DOWNTOWN COMPLETE STREET PROJECT, UH, PHASE ONE.

AND THEN WE'LL ALSO GET THE CHANCE TO BE ABLE TO U AND AWE OVER THE, UH, THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE PHILLIPS PROPERTY, WHICH IS, UH, VERY ACTIVELY UNDERWAY, AND THEN ENGAGE ONE ANOTHER IN A, IN A RECEPTION, UH, AT THE, UH, AT THE 1846 COFFEE SHOP.

SO WE LOOK FORWARD, UH, TO CELEBRATING, UH, THIS, UH, THIS EVENT IN OUR DOWNTOWN AREA ON FRIDAY, MONDAY, JANUARY 16TH.

CITY OFFICES, UH, WILL BE CLOSED IN OBSERVANCE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY.

UH, BUT AS ALWAYS, UH, MEMBERS OF OUR CITY STAFF AND THEIR FAMILIES WILL BE ENGAGED IN A MYRIAD OF, UH, PUBLIC SERVICE PROJECTS, BOTH DURING, UH, THAT DAY AND THEN ALSO DURING THAT WEEK.

UH, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF THAT, OF THAT WITH US, JUST LET US KNOW.

WE'D CERTAINLY BE GLAD TO HAVE YOU.

ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 19TH, UH, THIS WILL BE A BIG DAY AS WELL AS, UH, THE COUNCIL WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY, UH, TO SEE FIRSTHAND THE IMPROVEMENTS, UH, TAKING PLACE IN THE PROGRESS TAKING PLACE AT THE, THE TWO, UH, BIG ITEMS OF THE 2017 BOND.

UH, WE PLAN ON GATHERING AT THREE 30 TO BE ABLE TO WALK THE LAGOON SITE.

YOU GOT AN UPDATE ON THAT FROM SEAN RAY, UH, LATER IN THIS BRIEFING SESSION.

AND THEN AT FOUR 30, YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO, UH, WALK THE LIBRARY AND SIGNATURE PARK SITE, WHICH HAS, UH, SEEN A WHOLE LOT OF ACTIVITY OVER THE PAST 30 TO 45 DAYS.

AND SO I THINK YOU'LL BE, UH, VERY IMPRESSED.

AND ALSO, YOU REALLY NOW CAN START TO GET A SENSE OF THE IMPACT THAT BOTH FACILITIES ARE GOING TO HAVE, NOT JUST ON THEIR IMMEDIATE AREAS, BUT, UH, THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE.

AND THEN AT 6:00 PM ON THAT SAME THURSDAY, JANUARY 19TH, UH, WE DO HAVE A WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FROM SIX TO EIGHT ON THE NR FLOOR FLOOR CAR ROOM TO BE ABLE TO FOLLOW UP AGAIN ON THE WORK THAT YOU CREATED DURING, UH, THAT YOU STARTED IN THE, UH, RETREAT, UH, IN NOVEMBER ON SATURDAY.

JANUARY 21ST IS OUR NEXT NEIGHBORHOOD WALK WITH OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT AND OUR CORE PARTNERS.

UH, IT WILL BE FROM 11 TO 1:00 PM UH, THIS ONE IS GONNA COVER THE WINDING HOLLOW NEIGHBORHOOD, WHICH I KNOW, UH, SEVERAL OF YOU WORK TO, UM, BE ABLE TO HELP THEM WITH THE CREATION OF THEIR PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT.

AND THEN ALSO A PORTION OF THE HIGHLANDS NORTH SUBDIVISION JUST TO THE WEST.

UH, WE WILL BE PROVIDING ADDITIONAL LOGISTICAL DETAILS ON WHERE THE GATHER AND SO FORTH.

BUT, UH, WE'RE ON THE WINTER SCHEDULE, SO WE START A LITTLE BIT LATER.

HOPEFULLY IT'S A LITTLE BIT WARMER FOR OUR, UH, TWO HOUR WALK, UH, DOING MEET AND GREETS WITH, UH, OUR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS IN THOSE TWO SUBDIVISIONS ON, UH, SUNDAY, JANUARY 22ND FROM 3:00 PM TO FIVE.

UH, THIS YEAR'S EVENT WILL BE HELD IN THIS CHAMBER AT THE GOVERNMENT CENTER, AND THEN WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A, UH, A, A, A WALK BY THE PARTICIPANTS DOWN PIONEER TRAIL, PAST THE LIBRARY SITE AND BACK.

UH, THEY HAVE A VERY EXCITING, UH, SPEAKER, UH, WHO IS THE, THE DAUGHTER OF, UH, MR. ABERNATHY, WHO WAS VERY ACTIVE IN THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, IS ALSO THE GODDAUGHTER OF MARTIN LUTHER KING HIMSELF.

SO, UH, WE ALWAYS LEARN A LOT FROM THE SPEAKER SERIES, AND WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD, UH, TO THAT IN THIS YEAR.

UH, OUR NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED COUNCIL MEETING FOR JANUARY IS, UH, JANUARY 24TH.

UH, AND THEN, UH, ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 26TH, WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE A BIG DAY FROM SIX TO 8:00 PM WE WILL HAVE OUR STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS BY THE MAYOR.

UH, AND, UH, THE PRESENTATION OF JUST WHERE WE ARE AS A CITY, AS YOU KNOW, UH, UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP, WE HAVE, UH, WORKED TO RE-CRAFT AND REFORMAT THAT EVENT.

SO IT'S NO LONGER A MIDDAY EVENT.

IT'S AN EVENING EVENT WITH A MUCH LOUDER DRAW.

AND I SORT OF HINTED AT THAT TIME THAT I HAD ANOTHER ONE THAT I WANTED TO GIVE OUT.

AND SO I THOUGHT, WELL, WHAT A BETTER WAY TO START A NEW THERE THAN TO RECOGNIZE THE EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP THAT WE'RE BLESSED HERE, UH, WITHIN OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM.

UM, SO I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE THIS LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE AWARD, UH, TO, UH, EARL SHIPMAN, WHO IS OUR DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COME DOWN HERE AT ALL.

COME ON, EARL.

SO, EARL IS NOT A STRANGER TO ANY OF US.

HE'S LITERALLY GROWN UP WITH THE CITY AND MOST DEFINITELY HAS GROWN UP WITH OUR IT AND TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS. UM, HE JOINED US WHEN, UH, OUR IT DEPARTMENT WAS A DEPARTMENT OF ONE, AND SO HE DOUBLED IT TO MAKE IT A DEPARTMENT OF TWO.

HE SERVED AS ANALYST, WAS PROMOTED TO MANAGER SOME YEARS LATER, AND HAS SERVED AS THE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT SINCE, UH, 2011.

UM, HE'S LITERALLY LED IT FROM WHAT WAS, AND I'M NOT KIDDING, A HOMEMADE NETWORK THAT WAS HANDS STRUNG INTO THE HIGHLY SOPHISTICATED SET OF SYSTEMS THAT WE HAVE TODAY.

THAT'S LITERALLY THE PLATFORM ON WHICH WE PROVIDE EVERY SERVICE THAT WE PROVIDE.

UM, I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT BECAUSE HE'S GROWN UP HERE, HE HAS A VERY UNIQUE, UH, SHAPE OF SERVICE THAT HE HAS PREVAILED UPON HIS STAFF AND HIS TEAM.

AND SO, THOUGH THEY DO A LOT OF THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IN IN-HOUSE, IT IS EXPRESSED IN TO OUR CITIZENRY BECAUSE OUR OWN FOLKS ARE TAKEN SUCH WELL CARE OF THAT THEY DON'T, AND THEN PAY THAT FORWARD TO THE FOLKS THAT THEY SERVE DIRECTLY.

SO, A COUPLE THINGS I WANNA SAY ABOUT EARL ONE.

ONE, HE IS, HE'S VERY FORWARD THINKING.

HE IS NOT JUST ONE THAT SAYS, OKAY, I'M TAKING CARE OF THE NETWORK.

HE REALLY ENGAGES WITH EACH DIRECTOR IN EACH DEPARTMENT AND ENCOURAGES THEM TO THINK AHEAD, NOT JUST IN TERMS OF INNOVATION, BUT THE ADOPTION OF TECHNOLOGY THAT THEN CONVERTS TO MEANINGFUL SERVICE DELIVERY ENHANCEMENTS, UH, TO OUR CITIZENRY.

UH, SECOND, HE IS EXCEPTIONALLY RELIABLE IN A VERY QUIET KIND OF WAY.

WHEN COVID HIT AND ALL THIS STUFF WAS HIT, HITTING THE FAN, UH, THE ONLY WAY WE WERE ABLE TO MAINTAIN ANY SORT OF SERVICE CONTINUITY WITH ALL OF

THAT CHAOS AND ALL THAT PIVOTING WAS LITERALLY BECAUSE WE HAD A SOLID IT SET OF SYSTEMS AND THE PEOPLE THAT ARE IN IT.

AND EARL GOT DOWN INTO THE BASEMENT, SOMEHOW MANAGED TO PROVISION A WHOLE LOT OF LAPTOPS, AND WITH A LITTLE BIT OF TRAINING AND SOME DISTRIBUTION, CITIZENS NEVER KNEW THAT THERE WAS ANY PROBLEM AT ALL WHEN IT CAME TIME TO BEING ABLE TO CALL US, ASK FOR SERVICES AND HAVE THOSE SERVICES, UH, DELIVERED TO US.

AND THAT'S ALL BECAUSE OF THE WORK THAT THAT, UH, THAT EARL AND HIS TEAM PROVIDED.

UM, AND HE'S ALSO JUST A VERY GIFTED AND UNIQUE LEADER.

UH, HE'S BUILT A VERY STRONG, VERY CAPABLE, UH, EXCEPTIONALLY, UH, GIFTED PRODUCTIVE TEAM.

AND BY THE WAY, HE'S HAD TO DO THIS A COUPLE OF TIMES, I THINK IN THE MIDST OF CODE, HE ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH A COMPLETE TURNOVER OF HIS STAFF, REBUILT THEM, AND EVERY TIME HE DOES THAT, THEY JUST TURN OUT TO BE BETTER.

UH, THEY'RE THAT GOOD.

AND THEY HAVE TO PUT UP WITH FOLKS LIKE ME WHO, YOU KNOW, CAN'T TURN THEIR COMPUTER ON AND, AND STUFF LIKE THAT.

THE THING I LOVE ABOUT HIM MOST THOUGH, IS THAT HE ENCOURAGES AND, AND, AND LEADS HIS FOLKS INTO TRULY SERVING AND EMBRACING WHAT IT MEANS TO SERVE THE CEDAR HILL WAY.

THE OTHER THING ABOUT EARL IS HE'S COMPETITIVE AND HE'S NOT AFRAID TO BE VULNERABLE.

HE IS WON THE HALLOWEEN CONTEST, UH, FOR OUR CITY, LIKE 12 TIMES RUNNING OR 15 TIMES.

HE'S THE GUY TO BEAT, AND HE'S IMPRESSED UPON HIS STAFF DO THE SAME.

IF YOU DIDN'T SEE THE GHOSTBUSTERS THIS YEAR DURING THE TRUNK OR TREAT, YOU MISSED IT.

AND THAT WAS LIKE A MOVIE PRODUCTION LEVEL STUFF.

UH, SO FOR THAT AND FOR MANY MORE THINGS THAT I DON'T HAVE TIME TO SAY, I'D LIKE TO, UH, FORMALLY, UM, GIVE THIS AWARD TO EARL SHIPMAN FOR LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE SPEECH.

THE WORK THAT I DO IS FOR YOU GUYS.

UM, I REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST GOT HERE, UM, I WAS A, A, A, AS HE SAID, AN ANALYST, UH, UH, UH, REALLY GETTING OFF THE GROUND AS FAR AS AN IT PERSON.

I HAD WORKED FOR THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA FOR A WHILE, BUT I WAS SITTING THERE WORKING IN, IN THE CUBICLE FOR ABOUT FIVE YEARS, ALL BY MYSELF, LOOKING AT CODE ALL DAY LONG.

AND THEN WHEN I DECIDED TO COME TO TEXAS, UM, THIS WAS MY FIRST JOB HERE.

UM, I WAS A LITTLE BIT ANTSY, BE PERFECTLY HONEST WITH YOU.

I'M A, UM, A BLACK MAN GOING INTO A SMALL TOWN IN TEXAS, , AND MY FIRST OFFICE WAS AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

SO, UM, I, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, BUT YOU GUYS, THE WHOLE ENTIRE CITY, UM, WELCOMED ME WITH OPEN ARMS. UM, IT WAS AMAZING.

I DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

ONCE I START TALKING TO FOLKS AND GETTING TO KNOW WHAT CEDAR HILL, UM, IS, UM, AS, UH, UH, BEING HERE FOR THE LAST 19 YEARS, THAT'S, THAT'S MORE THAN HALF MY CAREER IN IT.

BEFORE THAT, I FLOATED AROUND A WHOLE LOT FROM ONE STATE TO THE OTHER DIFFERENT PLACES DOING IT WORK.

BUT WHEN I GOT TO CEDAR HILL, I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THIS IS JUST ANOTHER, UM, STEPPING STONE, NOT REALIZING THIS WAS GONNA BE MY, UM, LIFETIME, UM, JOB.

AND, UM, UH, I HOPE THAT I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED, UM, UH, MUCH AS AS I'VE BEEN HERE AND I PLAN ON ACCOMPLISHING MUCH, MUCH MORE.

ALSO, THE MISSION STATEMENT OF DELIVERING THE HIGHEST QUALITY MUNICIPAL SERVICES TO OUR CITIZENS AND CUSTOMERS, AND IT ACTUALLY TOUCHES ON ALL OF THE VALUES.

UM, SO, UH, VERY, VERY EXCITING FOR ME AS THE TRASH GUY TO STAND HERE TONIGHT AND TALK ABOUT GARBAGE, UM, WHEN SERVICES ARE, ARE GOING GREAT.

UM, GREENS GO.

UM, SO I, I THINK WHEN SERVICES ARE GOING AS WELL AS THEY ARE SOMETIMES, UM, WE, WE FORGET ALL THAT'S INVOLVED WITH COLLECTION, RIGHT? BEING THE EXCLUSIVE SERVICE PROVIDER FOR NOW, GOING ON 18 YEARS, UM, THERE'S A LOT IN A LOT OF INVOLVEMENT IN GETTING EVERYTHING PICKED UP.

SO NOT ONLY DO WE PICK UP THE RESIDENTIAL TRASH, WE PICK UP, UH, RESIDENTIAL RECYCLE ONCE A MONTH.

WE PICK UP, UH, BULK AND BRUSH AT EACH RESIDENCE'S, UM, HOME.

AND THEN WE ALSO TOUCH ALL THE COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES IN TOWN.

UM, WE, WE, WE WORK AND PARTNER WITH, UM, CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES WHO BRING IN, YOU KNOW, WE BRING IN DUMPSTERS AND, AND, UH, FOR DEVELOPMENT'S SAKE AND, AND CONTRACTORS.

SO EACH ONE OF THOSE SERVICE OFFERINGS, UH, REQUIRES SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT.

IT REQUIRES A TEAM OF FOLKS.

UM, AND THESE TEAM OF FOLKS THAT YOU SEE IN THIS PICTURE, UM,

IT'S SOMETHING THEY TAKE A LOT OF PRIDE IN THE WORK THAT THEY DO FOR YOUR, YOUR COMMUNITY.

UM, YOU CAN SEE COUNCIL MEMBER, WHOEVER THERE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE, UH, HE SHOWED UP TO ONE OF THE EVENTS, UM, MELISSA, THAT'S ALWAYS VERY WELL, UM, UH, ATTENDED BY CITY STAFF.

UM, BUT THESE ARE TWO SEPARATE YEARS, AND YOU CAN SEE THAT EVEN IN THE TWO PICTURES THERE.

UM, A LOT OF THE SAME FOLKS, UH, THESE FOLKS ARE OUT RUNNING THE STREETS EVERY DAY OF CEDAR HILL.

THEY'RE, THEY'RE RUNNING UP AND DOWN THE STREETS, UP AND DOWN THE ALLEYS, UH, AND THEY'RE INTERFACING WITH CUSTOMERS.

UM, A LOT OF THESE, LOT OF THE CUSTOMERS, A LOT OF THE RESIDENT RES RESIDENTS IN CEDAR HILL, UM, OUR GUYS KNOW THEM BY FIRST NAME.

A LOT OF THE RESIDENTS KNOW OUR GUYS BY FIRST NAME.

AND SO THAT'S, THAT'S SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS OVER A LONG PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF CEDAR HILL.

UM, AND REALLY, CEDAR HILL HAS ALWAYS KIND OF BEEN A MODEL COMMUNITY, UM, AT LEAST IN NORTH TEXAS, FROM THE CITIES THAT WE WORK WITH, WE, WE REFERENCE CEDAR HILL, UM, NOT JUST BECAUSE OF THE FORWARD THINKING AND, AND A LOT OF THE GREEN TECHNOLOGIES, BUT, UM, WE REFERENCE CEDAR HILL WHEN WE GO AND TALK TO OTHER CITIES.

HEY, LOOK, LOOK AT, UM, WHAT'S GOING ON HERE.

LOOK AT SOME OF THE NEW SERVICE OFFERINGS THAT HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED THERE IN CEDAR HILL, AND LOOK AT, LOOK AT HOW EFFECTIVE THIS PROGRAM IS.

UH, A LOT OF WHAT YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH HAS BEEN, UM, A LOT OF, UH, A LOT OF LESSONS LEARNED OVER THE YEARS, BUT YOU GUYS HAVE REALLY BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT, UM, AND IT KIND OF BECOME THAT MODEL CITY.

SO WHEN WE DID THE LAST CONTRACT NEGOTIATION, UM, WE ADDED A COUPLE SERVICE OFFERINGS THAT TIA'S GONNA TALK TO HERE IN JUST A MINUTE THAT I THINK HAVE ADDED A LOT OF VALUE.

BUT WASTE MANAGEMENT ALSO SAID, HEY, LET'S, LET'S PUT OUR MONEY WHERE OUR MOUTH IS.

AND IF WE HAVE A, A MODEL PARTNER IN CEDAR HILL, UH, MAYBE IT'S AN OPPORTUNITY TO UP OUR CONTRIBUTIONS.

AND SO, WHAT HAS HISTORICALLY BEEN $7,000 ANNUALLY WRITTEN INTO OUR CONTRACT OF, OF SERVICE CON OR OF DONATIONS, UM, COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS, WAS UP TO $10,000.

AND JUST THIS PAST YEAR IN 2022, WE FINALLY SURPASSED SIX FIGURES OVER A HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS, UM, HAVE BEEN, WHAT I LIKE TO SAY, RECYCLED BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY OF CEDAR HILL FOR SCHOLARSHIPS, WHICH WE DID JUST, UH, A FEW MONTHS AGO TO GRADUATING, UH, SENIORS IN, IN CEDAR HILL, UH, EARTH FEST, CIVIC GRANTS, AND OTHER PARTS.

UH, AND THAT A HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS DOESN'T REALLY CAPTURE ALL OF IT.

THAT'S JUST THE CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION.

THERE'S, UH, AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF FREE SERVICES THAT WE PROVIDE TO THE CITY OF CEDAR HILL.

UH, WE DONATE CONTAINERS FROM TIME TO TIME TO CERTAIN EVENTS, AND THEN ALSO THERE'S, UH, VOLUNTEERING OF, OF OUR FOLKS AT, AT VARIOUS EVENTS.

AND SO, WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT THE, THE NUMBER OF TIMES THAT WE KIND OF CROSS THROUGH A RESIDENCE ADDRESS, RIGHT? WE TALKED ABOUT THE DIFFERENT COLLECTION TRUCKS, THE GARBAGE TRUCK, THE RECYCLED TRUCK, THE BULK TRUCK, THE BRUSH TRUCK, UM, ALL THE DIFFERENT TOUCHES AND SERVICES THAT WE PROVIDE ON AN ANNUAL BASIS.

UM, WE ARE PROVIDING ALMOST 2 MILLION PERSONAL TOUCHES TO THE RESIDENTS OF CEDAR HILL.

IN FACT, WHEN YOU, WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT THE 2 MILLION, THAT'S, THAT'S MORE THAN WHAT ANY OTHER CITY SERVICE, UM, PROVIDES TO RESIDENTS MORE THAN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, MORE THAN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

IT'S, IT'S THE GARBAGE GUYS THAT ARE UP AND DOWN THE STREETS EVERY DAY.

AND SO, WHEN YOU LOOK AT, UH, THIS SLIDE HERE IS, UM, WHAT WE COLLECT.

SO THIS IS LAST YEAR'S NUMBERS.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE PROVIDE THE CITY ON A MONTHLY BASIS.

IT'S A REPORT.

AND WHEN YOU LOOK THERE, UH, TOWARDS THE BOTTOM LEFT, 24,427 TONS WERE COLLECTED.

UM, AND THIS IS JUST FROM, FROM THE RESIDENTIAL HOMES IN CEDAR HILL.

SO THIS DOESN'T CAPTURE THE COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES.

THIS DOESN'T CAPTURE, UH, ANY OF THE ROLL OFF FOR CONSTRUCTION.

THIS IS JUST FROM THE HOUSEHOLDS, UH, 24,000 TONS.

UM, AND THAT EQUATES TO, UH, IF YOU BREAK IT DOWN ON A PER HOME BASIS, THAT COMES OUT TO BE 275 POUNDS PER HOME PER MONTH, THAT WASTE MANAGEMENT IS PULLING FROM THE CURB, UM, OR ABOUT 65 POUNDS PER HOME PER WEEK THAT WE'RE PICKING UP AND SERVICING ACROSS THE COMMUNITY.

UM, AND WE TAKE A LOT OF PRIDE IN THE WORK.

I MEAN, I KNOW CEDAR HILL IS A COMMUNITY THAT VALUES CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WASTE MANAGEMENT, UM, IS AS WELL.

SO NOT ONLY DO WE HAVE A TEAM OF CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS THAT ARE ABLE TO FIELD CALLS, UH, FROM CUSTOMERS OR RESIDENTS, BUT YOU HAVE SEVERAL FOLKS, UH, ON WASTE MANAGEMENT STAFF LIKE MYSELF THAT WORK, UH, VERY INTIMATELY WITH A CITY OF CEDAR HILL, UH, AND STAFF.

AND, YOU KNOW, IF WE'RE NOT TALKING WEEKLY, SOMETIMES DAILY ABOUT JUST, YOU KNOW, HOW ARE THINGS GOING, UH, ANY UPDATES, ANYTHING WE NEED TO LOOK INTO ANY SPECIFIC, UH, INSTANCE THAT WE CAN FOLLOW UP WITH.

UM, AND SOMETIMES IT'S JUST TALK ABOUT LIFE, TALK ABOUT KIDS, GET UPDATES

HIS BIRTHDAY IS ACTUALLY NEXT WEEK, 11 YEARS OLD, AND MELISSA AND SOME OF THE STAFF ACTUALLY, UH, THROUGH A BABY SHOWER FOR MY FIRST KID.

SO, UM, AGAIN, IT'S THAT, IT'S THAT PARTNERSHIP AND THE RELATIONSHIPS THAT HAVE BEEN BUILT AND FORGED OVER, OVER SEVERAL OF THE YEARS.

UH, AND AGAIN, SIMILAR TO THE OTHER SLIDE, THIS JUST SHOWS THE STATISTICS ON CUSTOMER SERVICE.

AND SO I MENTIONED WE'RE OPERATING TODAY AT AN ALL TIME LOW IN REGARDS TO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

AND IF YOU LOOK DOWN AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT, YOU SEE THE 595, UM, IS THE NUMBER OF ISSUES THAT CUSTOMERS CALLED IN, WHETHER IT BE A REPORTED MISS, A CONTAINER ISSUE, UH, WHATEVER THE CASE.

AND YOU LOOK AT THAT NUMBER AND YOU MIGHT SAY, WOW, THAT'S, THAT'S A LOT OF ISSUES.

UM, BUT IF YOU EXTRAPOLATE IT OUT OVER THE SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES, THE NUMBER OF TOUCHES THAT WE'RE DOING IT, IT CALCULATES OUT TO BE 0.0003%.

SO IT'S LESS THAN 1%.

IT'S LESS, LESS THAN A HALF A PERCENT, IT'S LESS, LESS THAN HALF A HALF A PERCENT.

UM, AND SO, AGAIN, I, I'M VERY EXCITED TO STAND HERE TODAY WHEN SERVICES ARE GOING AS WELL AS THEY ARE TO TALK THAT.

UM, THIS WAS, UM, INTENDED WITH THE GOAL TO ACT, BE PROACTIVE IN CUSTOMER OUTREACH, AND IT HAS, UM, SEAMLESSLY INTEGRATED WITH THE MY CEDAR HILL APP, THE CITY'S WEBSITE, AND ALSO WASTE MANAGEMENT'S, UM, INTERNAL SYSTEMS. UH, SO FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF NOW, SINCE OCTOBER 1ST, 2021, UM, WE HAVE NOW HAVE 1,881 REMINDERS CREATED.

UM, AND THE ZONES ARE BROKEN DOWN BELOW.

UM, SO, UH, ALSO WE HAVE 2,640, UH, CONFIRMED REQUESTS, WHICH MEANS CART REPAIRS, UM, UH, CART REMOVALS, ADDITIONAL ONES ORDERS, UM, UH, OR, OR, OR REMOVALS.

UM, AND THEN ALSO 154 REQUESTS HAVE BEEN CREATED, UH, WHICH WOULD BE FROM RESIDENTS, UM, EMAILING STAFF WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT COLLECTION.

SO WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO PROMPTLY, UH, RESPOND BACK VERY EASILY THROUGH THIS, UH, CUSTOMER SERVICE TOOL.

AND RIGHT NOW IT'S MOSTLY BEING PROMOTED THROUGH UTILITY SERVICES, THROUGH THE NEW CUSTOMER, UM, APPLICATION PROCESS, UH, SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS, THE CEDAR HILL HIGHLIGHTS, AND NOW, OF COURSE, THROUGH NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES WITH ANY MAILINGS OR FLYERS THAT, UH, NEIGHBORHOODS REQUEST, I JUST ASK, HEY, CAN I ADVERTISE THIS ALONG WITH YOUR FLYER? AND THEY'VE ALL BEEN OKAY WITH IT SO FAR.

ALL RIGHT, SO THE, OVER THE LAST YEAR, THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF MONTHLY PICKUPS HAS IS 86, AND THE TOTAL NUMBER OF POUNDS OF ALL MATERIAL COLLECTED IS 70,307 POUNDS, WHICH IS INCREDIBLE, UH, BECAUSE, UH, BY LOOKING, BY COMPARING THESE NUMBERS TO THE PREVIOUS HOUSEHOLD, HAZARDOUS WASTE EVENTS, UM, I WAS LOOKING AT 2019 BECAUSE

2020 AND 2021 WERE VERY IMPACTED BY COVID.

SO, UH, THESE NUMBERS COMPARED TO 2019, UM, IN 2019, THERE WAS AVERAGE NUMBER OF 155 PARTICIPANTS AT EACH HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE EVENT.

SO OVER THE YEAR, THAT WAS 620 PARTICIPANTS.

UM, AND NOW AT 86 AVERAGE PER, UH, MONTHLY PICKUPS, THAT TOTALS TO 1032 PARTICIPANTS AS AN AVERAGE OVER THE YEAR.

AND THE TOTAL NUMBER OF POUNDS COLLECTED BACK IN 2019 WAS 30 2051 POUNDS.

SO YOU CAN DEFINITELY SEE HOW THIS SERVICE HAS TAKEN CEDAR HILL'S LOVE OF THE ENVIRONMENT TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

AND SO, UM, WHAT, AFTER EACH PICKUP, UH, CUSTOMERS ARE GIVEN, UM, A A LITTLE SURVEY CARD TO COMPLETE AND FILL OUT.

AND THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE, UH, THE FEEDBACK THAT I'VE GOTTEN FROM ALL OF THESE CARDS HERE.

SO IT'S BEEN A, UH, ALL POSITIVE AND ALL GREAT.

AND AS OF OCTOBER ONE, UM, THESE ARE THE RATES THAT APPEAR ON THE MONTHLY UTILITY BILLS TO OUR CITIZENS.

AND IN CLOSING, I WOULD LIKE TO SHOW WHERE WE'RE AT IN COMPARISON TO THE BEST SOUTHWEST CITIES.

UM, AND IT DEFINITELY, UM, HIGHLIGHTS THAT WE ARE, WE STILL HAVE A VERY COMPATIBLE RATE FOR THE SERVICES AVAILABLE TO OUR CITIZENS.

UM, OCCUPANTS WILL INITIALLY BE NOTIFIED OF AN OBSERVED VIOLATION BY A DOOR HANGER, SOMETHING VERY SIMILAR TO THIS PLACED ON THEIR DOOR, LETTING THEM KNOW WHAT THE VIOLATION IS AND WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO CORRECT THAT.

UM, I WILL SAY THAT WE'RE 10 DAYS INTO THE NEW YEAR, AND THEY PROBABLY HAVE DONE ABOUT 25 DAYS WORTH OF WORK ON THIS PROJECT.

AND THE NEW YEAR, THEY'RE MOVING EXTREMELY FAST.

THE TURNER IS, UH, BEING AS A GREAT PARTNER TO HAVE AND MOVING THE PROJECT ALONG VERY FAST.

UM, SO AS YOU'VE SEEN TWO OTHER TIMES TONIGHT, UH, THE PARSON RECREATION TEAM AS WELL AS THIS PROJECT, UH, HOLD THE VISION, VISION, VISION, VISION AND, AND VALUES OF THIS COUNCIL DEARLY.

UM, AREA TWO AND THREE IS YOUR ZERO DEPTH ENTRY AS WELL AS YOUR PLAY FEATURES.

UH, WE INCORPORATED THE INPUT AND DIRECTION THAT THE COUNCIL GAVE US ABOUT MAKING SURE WE HAVE TODDLER AREAS THERE AT THE ZERO DEPTH ENTRY PLAY FEATURE, UH, YOUR NEW POOL HOUSE AS WELL.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION, WE'LL HAVE A LAZY RIVER, UH, LAP POOL THAT ALL HOPE, UH, WILL HOST SENIOR SWIMMING, TEACH THOSE LIFE LESSONS SUCH AS SWIMMING AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE.

UH, WE'LL HAVE A BRIDGE THAT WILL, UH, CONNECT YOU INTO THE ISLAND.

AND NUMBER EIGHT IS OUR SLIDE THAT, UH, YOU'LL BE, UH, WRITING ON VERY SOON.

UM, SO THE PICTURE ON THE RIGHT IS AN OUTLINE, AN AERIAL OF ALL THE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES IN RELATION TO WHAT WE HAD JUST DISCUSSED.

UH, SO A LOT OF PROGRESS IN EVERY AREA OF THE CONSTRUCTION SIDE.

UM, SO THE POOL BUILDING, UH, ACTUALLY HAS ALL OF ITS TRUSSES ON AS OF THIS AFTERNOON, AND THE ROOF WILL START GOING ON NEXT WEEK.

PLUMBING ROUGH IN AND ALL OF THOSE THINGS THAT ARE GONNA MAKE THIS A UNIQUE GREAT PROJECT TO CEDAR HILL ARE WELL UNDERWAY.

UM, AND AS WE TALKED ABOUT IN A PREVIOUS SLIDE, THE BLACK LINE, YOU CAN START REALLY SEEING WHERE THE, UH, ADDITIONAL, UH, EXCAVATION IS ONGOING FOR YOUR LAZY RIVER.

UM, AND I THINK THIS WILL BE THE LARGEST LAZY RIVER, UH, SOUTH OF, UH, I 30 AT THIS TIME.

AND SO, UH, WE'RE REALLY EXCITED THAT WE ARE ABLE TO INCLUDE THIS FOR OUR CITIZENS AS IT WAS THE NUMBER ONE REQUEST FOR, UH, WHEN WE ASK CITIZENS, UM, WE HAVE, HAVE THE SPECTACULAR SLIDE, UH, WHICH IS BEING CONSTRUCTED ABOUT THREE STATES AWAY.

WE HAD THE, HAD AN OFF PARTY, UH, INSPECTOR GO, AND, UH, THINGS ARE GOING WELL AND EVERYTHING IS SCHEDULED TO BE DELIVERED ON TIME.

SO, UH, NEXT WEEK, NO, I SAW A PICTURE THAT SHOWED THAT THAT BRIDGE WAS ALREADY IN PLACE.

THAT BRIDGE IS ALREADY IN PLACE.

I DIDN'T HAVE A NEW DRONE FLYOVER IN THE MEANTIME.

AND THAT'S TO THE POINT OF, UH, TURNER AND THEM ARE MAKING GREAT PROGRESS EVERY SINGLE DAY ON THIS PROJECT.
