CITY MANAGER REPORTS.

HOW ARE YOU DOING THE CITY MANAGER? I'M DOING WELL, MAYOR, UH, GOOD EVENING, MAYOR CITY COUNCIL.

UH, WELCOME TO APRIL.

SO A PRETTY TYPICAL, UH, APRIL DAY STARTED OUT IN, YOU KNOW, A LITTLE BIT HUMID AND THEN THERE'S STORMS AND THEN IT WILL BE NICE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF IT.

UM, I WILL LET YOU KNOW THAT, UM, WE ARE, UM, CLOSE TO THOSE STORMS ACTUALLY REACHING THE DALLAS FORT WORTH AREA.

UM, OUR, UH, ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF RAYEZ AND HIS TEAM ARE ACTUALLY DOWNSTAIRS WATCHING THE STORM AT ALL.

AND SO YOU'RE IN GOOD HANDS.

UM, AS WE, UH, GO THROUGH THE REST OF THE MEETING AND, UH, GET THROUGH THE STORM PERIOD FOR TONIGHT, UM, APRIL IS THE MONTH WHERE YOU SEE THE MOST STORMS. UH, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE NOTICED OR NOT, BUT IT'S ALSO BEEN A REALLY GOOD YEAR FOR BLUE BONNET.

SO WITH THE DROUGHT AND ALL THAT SORT OF EXPECTED IT TO BE SORT OF A LIGHT YEAR, BUT I'VE BEEN VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED OUR, UH, AWAY AREAS IN OUR NATURAL AREAS ARE LOOKING EXTRA GOOD.

UH, NOW THAT THE MONTH OF APRIL, UH, HAS, UH, HAS COME TO US, UH, WANT TO BEGIN WITH JUST A NOTE OF CONGRATULATIONS AND THANKS TO OUR ENVIRONMENTAL FOLKS, OUR LIBRARY TEAM, UM, OUR PUBLIC WORKS FOLKS AND OUR PARKS TEAM FOR A SUCCESSFUL EARTH DAY CELEBRATION.

THIS HAS BEEN THE FIRST ONE WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO IN A COUPLE OF YEARS.

WE HAD IT AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION AT THE RECREATION CENTER.

THE WEATHER WAS PITCH PERFECT.

AND, UH, WE HAD A REALLY GOOD TURNOUT.

IT WAS A NICE LAYOUT AS WELL AND APPRECIATE ALL THOSE WHO WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT.

UM, THE COMMUNITY IS CLEARLY ENJOYING HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET OUT AGAIN AND ENGAGE WITH EACH OTHER, UH, FACE TO FACE.

AND, UH, WE WERE GIVEN A DELIGHTFUL DAY SATURDAY, UH, FOR THAT TO OCCUR.

AND THEN ALSO A NOD TO OUR PARTNERS AT THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WHO, UH, ALSO HAD AN EVENT ON THAT, UH, OVERLAPPED EARTH DAY, JUST A LITTLE BIT THEN WENT INTO THE AFTERNOON EVENING.

THAT WAS THE KEGS CORKS AND CARS EVENT, WHICH TOOK PLACE ACROSS THE STREET IN THE HEART HERE OF MIDTOWN.

AND SO THAT ALSO WAS A NEW EFFORT ON THE CHAMBER'S PART.

UH, AGAIN, UH, I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE LAYOUT, THE FOLKS THAT I VISITED WITH, UM, THAT ATTENDED ALSO HAD VERY, UH, NICE THINGS TO SAY.

UH, I SAW SEVERAL OF YOU OUT THERE AS WELL.

AND, UH, AGAIN, IT'S, UH, IT'S A NICE TO BE ABLE TO ENGAGE OUR COMMUNITY FACE TO FACE, UH, UNDER GOOD WEATHER WITH GOOD EVENTS TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT.

UM, FOR I GO TO THE CALENDAR, JUST A COUPLE THINGS I WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW, UM, AS YOU MIGHT RECALL, UH, WHEN JANUARY ROLLED AROUND, UH, WE WERE IN STILL THE MIDST OF THE ALMA MACRON, UM, UH, VIRUS, UH, SURGE.

AND SO WE ENDED UP HAVING TO RESCHEDULE A NUMBER OF EVENTS.

ONE OF THEM WAS THE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS SUMMIT, WHICH WE'VE SINCE HAD.

UM, BUT ONE, TWO BY TWO, MY SORROW WAS, UM, THE CITY'S ANNUAL, UH, MARTIN LUTHER KING, UH, CELEBRATION AND DAY OF SERVICE THAT THE, UH, EMPLOYEES ALWAYS DO.

SO WE RESCHEDULED THAT ACTUALLY TO APRIL, WHICH I THINK IS ALSO MARINE NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK SHE'S AROUND ANYWAY.

SO THAT'S COMING UP, UH, THE, THE, UH, THE WEEK OF APRIL THE 18TH TO THE 22ND, UH, YOU WILL SEE CITY STAFF ENGAGED IN MANY PLACES ACROSS THE CITY.

UH, WE HAVE DECIDED TO CONCENTRATE ON, UH, LITTER PICKUP JUST AS A, AN EMPLOYEE TEAM, UH, BECAUSE A IT'S APRIL, UH, OUR PLACES PRETTIER THAN ANYBODY ELSE'S AND B IT'S A, IT'S AN AREA THAT NEEDS SOME ATTENTION.

SO WE LOOK FORWARD TO, UM, BEING ABLE TO DO THAT.

THE COUNCIL IS ALWAYS IS WELCOME TO JOIN US IN ANY OF THOSE DAYS AND EVENTS.

WE'VE GOT SOME, UH, SIGNUPS AND THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO.

UH, AND THEN ALSO, I THINK AT YOUR, UH, DYESS, YOU SEE A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE IN THE FOCUS, UM, ABOUT A VOLUNTEER WHO, UH, IS, UH, IN OUR CITY.

SHE'S ACTUALLY, UH, FROM UKRAINE AND HAS A FRIEND THAT LIVES IN CEDAR HILL.

AND IN TYPICAL CEDAR HILL WAY FASHION, UH, HAS, UH, TAKEN THE YOUNG LADY IN, UH, WHO MUST THERE MUST BE A CEDAR HILL IN UKRAINE BECAUSE THIS PERSON NOT ONLY HAS BEEN DISPLACED, FOUND HERSELF IN THE UNITED STATES, BUT IMMEDIATELY WENT AND ASKED FOR A PLACE TO GO AND VOLUNTEER SERVICES.

AND SO SHE IS, UH, WORKING WITH OUR COURT GROUP, UH, NOW, UM, AS A VOLUNTEER IN, UH, IN THAT CAPACITY.

AND SO WE HAVE, UH, ENJOYED GETTING TO MEET, UH, WITH HER AND LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING TO SUPPORT HER WHILE SHE CONTINUES HER STAY HERE IN, UH, CEDAR HILL.

WELL, UH, SEND HER, UH, HOPEFULLY HOME SOON WITH A LITTLE DOSE OF CEDAR HILL TO HELP, UH, UH, THE REST OF EASTERN EUROPE WITH SOME OF THE WAY WE DO THINGS.

SO WHEN DID YOU TO BE ABLE TO KNOW THAT NOW GO INTO THE CALENDAR FOR THIS WEEK? Y'ALL, UM, APRIL STARTS TO GET BUSY AND MAY IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT KIND OF BUSY.

SO WHEN, UH, UH, PROJECT A COUPLE OF THINGS, UH, THIS THURSDAY, APRIL 14TH, OUR PARTNERS WITH THE CEDAR ELLEN PUNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT IS CONTINUING THEIR LONGHORN FUTURES COMMITTEE SERIES.

UH, THIS ONE WILL BE HELD AT FIVE 30 AT THE CEDAR HILL HIGH SCHOOL NUMBER ONE LONGHORN BOULEVARD.

AND IT'LL A COUPLE OF YOU WENT TO THE ONE THAT THEY HAD IN BRAY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO.

THIS ONE, UH, WILL BE AT, UH, AT THE HIGH SCHOOL THIS THURSDAY, UH, JUST REMINDER, UH, THAT, UH, THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 15TH IS GOOD FRIDAY.

AND SO THE CITY OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED AND I'M SERVANTS OF THE EASTER HOLIDAY.

UH, BUT ON SATURDAY, APRIL THE 16TH, UH, THE, UM, UH, CITY WILL BE SUPPORTING AN EFFORT FOR THE ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT.

THIS ONE WILL BE FROM 10:00 AM TO 12 NOON AT VALLEY RIDGE PARK, UM, OFF OF, UH, VALLEY RIDGE PARK DRIVE, UH, AGAIN FROM 10 TO 12 THIS SATURDAY, APRIL 16TH, UH, NEXT TUESDAY, APRIL 19TH.

I SPOKE TO THEM ABOUT THIS IN MY UPDATE OVER THE WEEKEND.

UH, WE WILL HAVE A SPECIAL WORKSHOP WITH THE CITY COUNCIL, UH, TO WORK ON THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AND BUDGET ASSOCIATED WITH THE LIBRARY AND SIGNATURE PARK AND THE, UH, UH, AND THE SWIMMING POOL PROJECT WE WERE WORKING WITH, UH, COSTS, UH, COST ESTIMATES AND BUDGETING AND FUNDING OF THOSE TWO VERY IMPORTANT PROJECTS AND KEYSTONES OF OUR 2017 BOND, UH, ON FRIDAY, APRIL 22ND, I GUESS THIS IS NEXT FRIDAY.

UH, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS INVITED THE COUNCIL TO PARTICIPATE WITH THEM AND, UH, THE CEREMONIAL PUSHING CEREMONY, UH, FOR OUR NEW HEAVY RESCUE TRUCK ALSO WAS AN ITEM I HIGHLIGHTED, UH, IN THE UPDATE.

AND THIS REPRESENTS, UH, A SIGNIFICANT ENHANCEMENT IN OUR CAPABILITY, UM, TO PERFORM HEAVY, UH, RESCUE TYPE ACTIVITIES, NOT ONLY JUST WITHIN CEDAR HILL, BUT WITH MANY OF OUR PARTNERS IN THIS REGIONS, UM, BOTH EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING THAT, UM, HAS BEEN MISSING IN OUR AREA.

AND SO, UH, YOUR LEADERSHIP AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S LEADERSHIP, AND BEING ABLE TO BRING THIS CLOSE TO HOME, UM, IS, UH, SOMETHING WORTH CELEBRATING.

SO THE FIRE DEPARTMENTS, UH, THE FIRE SERVICE HAS A LONG HISTORY OF HAVING A CEREMONIAL, UH, PUSH IN CEREMONY OF NEW EQUIPMENT.

AND SO, UH, THIS ONE IS A BIG DEAL FOR THEM.

AND SO THEY'VE INVITED THE COUNCIL TO COME AND PARTICIPATE WITH THAT ON FRIDAY, APRIL 22ND.

I'VE ALSO, UM, ASHLEY SMITH TO PROVIDE A FUTURE BRIEFING.

IT WILL BE AFTER THE 22ND WHERE HE CAN GO INTO THE, THE APPARATUS ITSELF, THE EQUIPMENT THAT'S ON IT.

MORE IMPORTANTLY OF THE TRAINING THAT HAS BEEN TAKING PLACE OVER THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS, THAT NOW EQUIPS OUR FOLKS IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO BE ABLE TO PERFORM, UH, THE TYPES OF HEAVY RESCUES THAT THIS TRUCK AND THE EQUIPMENT ALLOWS US TO BE ABLE TO DO.

SO I THINK YOU WILL ENJOY THAT.

AND I THINK YOU WILL APPRECIATE, AGAIN, THE SIGNIFICANT INNOVATION THAT IS TAKING PLACE IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.

UM, AND, UH, THE THINGS THAT THEY'RE DOING WITH THE RESOURCES THAT, UH, THE COUNCIL, SO ABLY FUNDED THEM, UH, OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS ON TUESDAY, APRIL 26TH IS OUR NEXT REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING.

UM, ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27TH AT AM WILL BE THE OFFICIAL RIBBON CUTTING OF THE WINTERGREENY ROAD PROJECT.

NOW, ALAN IS CHUCKLING BECAUSE BELIEVE IT OR NOT, ALAN WAS STILL CITY MANAGER, UH, WHEN THE WINTER GREEN PROJECT WAS ACTUALLY, UH, BEING FORMED AND WORKED ON.

SO THIS IS THE ULTIMATE JOINT PROJECT IS INVOLVED CEDAR HILL, THE SOTO DUNCANVILLE DALLAS COUNTY.

UM, IT IS AT AN INTERSECTION THAT WAS SORELY IN NEED OF ATTENTION, BUT ALSO IT REQUIRED A LOT OF REALIGNMENT AND A WHOLE LOT OF, UH, LET'S SAY, DIPLOMACY AND THE ALIGNMENT OF PRIORITIES, WHICH, UH, I WILL GIVE THE COUNTY CREDIT.

THEY HUNG IN WITH IT UNTIL IT GOT DONE.

AND, UH, CEDAR HILL WAS A STALWART SUPPORTER OF THE PROJECT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.

I'M ALSO PROUD TO SAY, SO THIS ONE IS A RIBBON CUTTING.

NOW THAT THAT PROJECT IS COMPLETE.

UH, AGAIN, THE COUNCIL, UH, IS INVITED, UH, IN FACT, ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE RIBBON CUTTING FOR THAT PROJECT WHEN YOU GET A CHANCE.

SO IT'S NOT OFTEN YOU CAN GET ONE INTERSECTION IN THREE CITIES IN THE COUNTY, ALL IN, ALL IN ONE SPOT, UH, ON THURSDAY, APRIL THE

28TH IS THE NEXT LONGHORN FUTURES COMMITTEE MEETING.

THAT ONE IS AT THE LACY ENROLLMENT CENTER ON EAST BELTLINE.

UH, OUR POLICE CHIEF RAYEZ WOULD FROWN UPON IF I DID NOT ALSO MENTION THAT OUR NEXT, UH, NEIGHBORHOOD WALK WITH OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT AND CITY PARTNERS, UH, WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, APRIL THE 30TH.

THIS WILL BE OVER SOMERSET VILLAINS SUMMERSET VILLAGE, WHICH IS ACROSS FROM VIRGINIA WEAVER.

SO WE'VE SET THAT WHOLE SATURDAY, UH, ASIDE TO BE ABLE TO GO INTO DO THAT, THAT WE WILL FOLLOW THAT UP WITH A WORKSHOP OR TWO TO COME OUT WITH WHAT WILL BASICALLY BE THE TARGETS AND THE FRAMEWORK FOR WHAT ULTIMATELY WILL BE, UH, THE ZONING FRAMEWORK FOR IMPLEMENTING THE PLAN AS IT RELATES TO SINGLE FAMILY, A SINGLE FAMILY ITEMS. UM, AND THEN THE CITY CENTER PLAN KIND OF FURTHER LOOKED INTO THAT, WELL, HOW THAT MIGHT PLAY OUT ON THE GROUND.

UM, SUBSEQUENT TO THAT, WE HAVE, UH, THE CITY HAS UPDATED ITS COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.

AND SO THAT STARTED TO BRING INTO A LITTLE SHARPER FOCUS, UM, SO MORE CLEAR OPPORTUNITY ABOUT WHAT THIS PROPERTY COULD BE LIKE.

UM, AND IN, IN PARTICULAR, IT STARTED TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION, UH, A LITTLE MORE DETAIL THAT WE NOW KNOW AROUND THE INVESTMENTS WITH THE SIGNATURE PARK, AS WELL AS, UH, WITH, WITH THE LIBRARY, THAT'LL BE AN AMAZING ASSET FOR THIS SITE.

AND THAT IS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO THINK ABOUT HOW ALL OF THE PUBLIC SPACES, UH, BOTH ON THE SITE AND AROUND THE SITE CAN START TO KNIT TOGETHER.

UM, SO THAT, SO THAT WHATEVER DEVELOPS OUT ON, UM, THE, THE WEST MIDTOWN PROPERTIES, UM, HAS A REAL STRONG CONNECTION WITH, UH, THE ADJACENT ASSETS AS WELL.

SO WE LOOKED, WE LOOKED AT THAT, UM, PROCESS AS WELL.

AND SO WHAT HAS COME OUT WITH THE INVESTIGATION

AND SO WE'RE USING THIS AS A BIT OF A, UM, MARCHING ORDERS, UH, AS WE START TO THINK CREATIVELY ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN HERE.

UM, ONE KIND OF LOOKING VERY BROADLY AT HOW THE SITE MIGHT LAY OUT.

UM, WE WANT TO BE VERY SENSITIVE TO THE LAND AND THE TERRAIN THAT'S OUT THERE, AS WELL AS THE VEGETATION.

IT'S, IT'S AN AMAZING ASSET.

THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE KNOW CEDAR HILL VALUES VERY STRONGLY.

AND SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT ANY DEVELOPMENT, UM, REALLY TAKES FULL ADVANTAGE OF THAT RATHER THAN TRY TO REPLACE IT OR ERADICATE IT.

AND SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE NATURAL FEATURES, UH, STAND FRONT AND CENTER.

UM, ADDITIONALLY, THE, THAT TRAIL NETWORK BECOMES A KEY SPINE, UM, THAT WE NEED TO BUILD THEIR POND.

IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE CONSIDERED AS, YOU KNOW, JUST A, SORT OF A BACKDOOR THROUGH THE SITE, BUT RATHER DEVELOPMENTS ALONG THAT TRAIL SHOULD ALSO TREAT THAT AS A FRONT DOOR AS WELL.

UM, AND THEN, YOU KNOW, THE SITE ITSELF, IT'S, IT'S FAIRLY LARGE, UM, AND THERE ARE TWO KIND OF CENTERS OF GRAVITY THAT WE'VE STARTED TO SEE DEVELOP ONE ON THE SOUTH END BUILDING UPON, UM, YOU KNOW, KIND OF THE ACTIVITY AND INTEREST IN DOWNTOWN AND, AND MAKE IT STRONG CONNECTION THERE.

AND THEN CERTAINLY ALONG PIONEER TRAIL, MAKING SURE THAT WE HAVE VERY DIRECT CONNECTIONS TO, UM, THE LIBRARY AND SIGNATURE PARK AS WELL.

AND THEN WE ALSO WANT TO THINK VERY CAREFULLY ABOUT PARKING.

UM, WE DON'T WANT THAT TO BE AN AFTERTHOUGHT.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT, UM, WE HAVE A STRATEGY FOR THE WHOLE SITE.

UM, SO THAT PARKING LOTS DON'T COME IN AND CHANGE THE CHARACTER SIGNIFICANTLY OF WHAT THE LAND IS.

AND SO WE WANT TO BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT HOW WE MOVE FORWARD THERE AS WELL.

UM, ONCE YOU'VE KIND OF FIGURED OUT THOSE BLOCKS, THE NEXT PHASE IS START TO THINK ABOUT THE TYPES OF BUILDINGS, UM, THAT MIGHT OCCUR ON THE SITE.

AGAIN, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE THEY'RE SCALED IN A WAY AND ORIENTED A WAY THAT TAKES FULL ADVANTAGE OF ALL OF THOSE OPEN-SPACE ASSETS.

UM, WE ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE CREATING SOMETHING THAT IS EXTREMELY PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY, UH, PARTICULARLY WITH THE LOCATION OF DOWNTOWN.

UM, YOU'VE GOT THE, THE RETAIL ACROSS THE STREET, AS WELL AS THE, UH, BIKE NETWORK AND PEDESTRIAN NETWORK THAT'LL BE COMING THROUGH THE SITE THAT WE FELT THAT WAS A VERY, VERY IMPORTANT COMPONENT.

AND OF COURSE, THEN MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE ALWAYS CHECKING BACK WITH WHAT'S IN THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND MAKING SURE THAT IT'S STAYING TRUE TO THE DIRECTION THAT WAS SET AS PART OF THAT POLICY DOCUMENT.

UM, AND THEN THE LAST PART IN A LOT OF WAYS, IT'S THE FUN PART.

AND THESE ARE THE KIND OF THE CHARACTER, THE PLACEMAKING ELEMENTS.

THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT WILL SET THIS APART FROM ANY OTHER LOCATION.

AND CERTAINLY, UM, I THINK WE CAN TAP INTO, YOU KNOW, THINGS THAT ARE UNIQUELY CEDAR HILL, YOU KNOW, THAT SORT OF LOVE OF THE OUTDOORS, UM, AND THAT ENGAGEMENT WITH, AND WITH NATURE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE ARCHITECTURE AND THE BUILDINGS COMPLIMENT THAT AND BUILD UP ON THAT, THAT SENSE, UM, AS WELL AS THINKING ABOUT HOW PEOPLE ARRIVE TO THE SITE AND THE GATEWAYS, UM, THAT THEY WILL ANNOUNCE KIND OF THAT THEY'RE IN A DIFFERENT KIND OF PLACE.

AND THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE KIND OF NEW STYLE, ALMOST OF A TOWN SQUARE.

AND SO, UM, JUST SOME IMAGERY AND, YOU KNOW, NONE OF THESE ARE REALLY, UH, INTENDED TO BE EXACT, UM, YOU KNOW, MANDATES ON WHAT MIGHT BE HERE, BUT JUST STUFF THAT'S COME UP THROUGH CONVERSATION.

AND THAT CONVERSATION WILL CONTINUE TO EVOLVE AS WE MEET WITH THE STAKEHOLDERS LATER THIS WEEK, AND THEN CONVERSATIONS THROUGH THE CITY BEYOND THAT.

UH, BUT STARTING TO THINK ABOUT THE TYPES OF COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT THAT COULD OCCUR HERE.

AND AGAIN, THINKING ABOUT IT IN RELATIONSHIP TO A STRONG CONNECTION WITH THE OUTDOOR SPACE AND MAKING SURE THAT THAT'S A VERY PREVALENT, UM, COMPONENT OF ANYTHING THAT GETS DEVELOPED.

UM, SIMILARLY LOOKING AT THE RANGE OF RESIDENTIAL, YOU KNOW, THERE'S, THERE'S A WHOLE ARRAY OF TOWNHOUSE AND COTTAGE STYLE, UM, UH, COTTAGE STYLE HOUSING THAT CAN EXIST THERE AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF, OF, OF MIXED USE AS WELL AS SENIOR LIVING AND ALL OTHER KINDS OF OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE CAN THINK ABOUT.

UH, BUT AGAIN, MAKING SURE IT'S GROUNDED IN A CONNECTION TO OPEN SPACE.

UM, AND, AND THEN WHERE WE HAVE PARTICULAR IMPORTANT AREAS WHERE WE WANT TO HOLD A STRONG CORNER OR SOMETHING THAT MIGHT HAVE A LITTLE MORE CONNECTION WITH DOWNTOWN THINKING ABOUT THAT AND HOW THAT MIGHT RELATE TO THE STREET AND A LITTLE MORE URBANIZED TYPE OF WAY.

UM, AS I MENTIONED, PARKING BEING KEY, UM, THERE'S A CHARACTER ELEMENT TO PARKING.

IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE PROVISION OF, YOU KNOW, STORING A CAR FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, BUT HOW DOES THAT, UM, CHARACTER START TO INFLUENCE HOW PEOPLE FEEL ABOUT THE AREA AS WELL AS WHAT ROLE DOES IT HAPPEN? STORMWATER MANAGEMENT, AND, UH, GIVEN THE SORT OF FLOW OF CREEKS TO THE AREA, THAT'S SOMETHING WE WOULD WANT TO BE VERY SENSITIVE TO AS WELL.

AND SO, YOU KNOW, ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, UM, YOU KNOW, I THINK THE REAL FUN STARTS THIS WEEK WHEN WE HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THE STAKEHOLDERS AND, UM, WE'RE, WE'RE PLANNING A VERY INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP.

UM, WE WILL HAVE BASE MAPS LAID OUT ON TABLES WHERE, UH, WE WILL IDENTIFY THE TOPOGRAPHY AND SLOPE OF THE LAND AS WELL AS OTHER, UH, CONSIDERATIONS LIKE PROPERTY OWNERSHIP, THE LOCATION OF TRAILS, WHERE IS THEIR FLOOD PLAIN.

UM, AND WE'LL START TO ASK SOME SPECIFIC QUESTIONS OF THE STAKEHOLDERS AS WE GO THROUGH THE CONVERSATION.

UM, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE WILL THEY WILL DO IS, UM, WE, WE AFFECTIONATELY REFER TO THESE AS PAPER DOLLS.

UM, WE WILL HAVE A SERIES OF HANDOUTS THAT WILL BE SCALED TO THIS, TO THE SCALE OF THE BASE DRAWING.

AND THEY CAN ACTUALLY START TO CUT OUT AND PASTE DIFFERENT TYPES OF DEVELOPMENT SO THAT YOU CAN START TO UNDERSTAND, WELL, WHAT CAN REALLY OCCUR IN THIS SPACE? WHAT SIZE OF DEVELOPMENT MIGHT BE APPROPRIATE? UM, YOU KNOW, GIVEN WHAT ALL WE'RE WORKING AROUND.

AND SO WE'VE GOT A WHOLE ARRAY OF DIFFERENT, UM, RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT TYPES THAT WE CAN LOOK AT, UH, AND BE ABLE TO SORT OF STICK DOWN ON THE MAP AND, UH, PLACE THEM, AND THEN START TO COLLECTIVELY, UH, DEVELOP A VERY DETAILED DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR WHAT COULD BE HERE AND THROUGH THE WHOLE COURSE OF THE WORKSHOP.

UM, THE, THE FOLKS HERE WILL BE TASKED WITH ANSWERING A SERIES OF QUESTIONS AND DOING SO ON THEIR MAPS.

UM, FIRST LOOKING AT WHERE WE MIGHT WANT TO PRESERVE SOME, SOME OPEN SPACE OR A VERY UNIQUE FEATURES TO THE LAND.

HOW CAN ALL OF THAT OPEN SPACE CONNECT? UM, HOW SHOULD WE MANAGE TRANSPORTATION ONSITE? YOU KNOW, WHERE SHOULD THE ROADS GO? UH, YOU KNOW, WHERE SHOULD THE PARKING GO? WHERE SHOULD THE PEDESTRIAN CORRIDORS BE AND SIMILAR.

UM, AND THEN LASTLY, START TO FILL IN THEN WITH DEVELOPMENT AND PARKING, UH, USING THOSE PAPER DOLLS AS A GUIDE.

AND, YOU KNOW, AS I MENTIONED, WE WENT THROUGH THIS EXERCISE, UM, WITH OUR, UM, WITH OUR STAFF HERE.

UH, I THINK THEY HAD A LOT OF FUN.

UM, AND WE, WE CAME UP WITH A WHOLE, A WHOLE SLEW OF IDEAS.

AGAIN, THIS IS JUST SORT OF ONE INPUT OR ONE, UH, LINE OF THINKING AROUND THIS, BUT, YOU KNOW, CERTAINLY LOOKING AT DIFFERENT TYPES OF ANCHORS THAT MIGHT BE IN ADDITION TO WHAT'S ALREADY HERE AND WHAT WILL BE COMING WITH THE PARK AND THE LIBRARY.

UM, YOU KNOW, THE IDEA OF A PERFORMING ARTS CENTER WAS KICKED AROUND AS WELL AS A WHOLE ARRAY OF, UH, HOUSING TYPES.

AS I MENTIONED, YOU KNOW, THAT THAT GENERALLY RAN THE GAMUT AS WELL AS RETAIL AND RESTAURANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT REALLY HAD A STRONG CONNECTION TO OUTDOORS.

A LOT OF OUTDOOR SEATING, A LOT OF GREAT SPACES TO JUST SIT AND HANG OUT OUTSIDE, UM, AS WELL AS LODGING, UH, AND LOOKING AT, YOU KNOW, WHERE MIGHT THERE BE APPROPRIATE SPOTS FOR A, YOU KNOW, A BED AND BREAKFAST FOR INSTANCE, OR A BOUTIQUE HOTEL OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES.

AND THEN HOW CAN WE MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE SETTING THIS UP SO THAT, UM, IF TRANSIT WERE TO COME ALONG THE RAIL, BUT THIS IS A GREAT LOCATION FOR IT TO STOP, BUT CERTAINLY THE DEVELOPMENTS INTENDED TO STAND ALONE, UM, WITH, WITH, OR WITHOUT THE, THE INTRODUCTION OF TRANSIT.

UM, AND THEN AS I MENTIONED, THE TRAIL AND THE OPEN SPACE REALLY BECAME THE MAIN ORGANIZING ELEMENT, UM, AROUND THE, UH, AROUND THE SITE, AS WELL AS LOOKING AT THOSE TWO KIND OF DISTINCT NODES OF ACTIVITY.

ONE THAT SORT OF BUILDS UPON, UM, THE ACTIVITY DOWNTOWN AND WHAT'S GOING ON THERE AS WELL AS, UM, THE AREA IN AND AROUND, YOU KNOW, THE LIBRARY AND THE GOVERNMENT CENTER WHERE WE ARE PRESENTLY.

AND SO WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? UM, AS I MENTIONED, THE SHRED, THE WORKSHOP IS LATER THIS WEEK.

AND SO WE WILL, WE WILL TAKE ALL OF THAT FEEDBACK AND EVERYTHING, ALL THE CONVERSATIONS THAT WE'VE HAD SO FAR, SO FAR, AND SYNTHESIZES THAT INTO A FIRST PASS AT WHAT A, WHAT A PLAN FOR THE DEVELOPMENT MIGHT BE FOR THIS SITE.

UH, WE'LL THEN GO THROUGH, UM, KIND OF, UH, A SERIES OF VETTING OF THOSE IDEAS.
