AND GOD REALLY TRUST GOD THAT YOU DESIRE TO SPEAK IN GUY THEM.

AND EVERY DECISION TO MAKE.

THINK I, I PRAY FOR JUST HUMILITY GOD THAT THERE'LL BE A DEEP DEPENDENCE UPON YOU AS THEY LEAD THIS GREAT CITY FOR YOUR GLORY.

AND THEY, GOD, I PRAY GOD, THEY WOULD BE FOUND FAITHFUL GOD, FAITHFUL AND SWISSCOM AGAIN, PUTTING YOU FIRST.

AND THEN THEY'VE BEEN HUMBLE BY THEN MAKING DECISIONS FROM THAT.

I BET GOD, THIS IS A CITY, GOD THAT YOU HAVE BLESSED OVER THE YEARS AND THE TWO DESIRE TO BIRTH THAT YOU DESIRE TO MAKE YOURSELF KNOWN GOD.

SO I PRAY GOD THAT GOD, THAT GOD IN DEBT, THAT THESE LEADERS THAT YOU'VE CALLED FIRST TO YOURSELF, GOD WOULD MAKE SEASONS THAT WOULD FILL.

SO THE ONGOING LOVE FOR YOU AND THE LOVE OF GOD FOR THIS COMMUNITY AND FOR THE CITIZENS OF THIS GREAT CITY, KIND OF WANTS YOU TO BE FAITHFUL IN THAT.

IS A DISTINCTIVE CHARACTER PRESENTATION PRESENTED A CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION TO MRS. CEDAR HILL FOR HIS COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECTS COMPLETED IN JUNE, 2021.

SO THIS SUMMER MISSION, CEDAR HILL CELEBRATED ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY JUBILEE.

SO VOLUNTEERS CAME IN FROM ALL OVER.

UM, WE HAD SOME RETURNING ALUMNI VOLUNTEERS WHO PARTICIPATED EARLIER IN A BIG WEEK.

THEY TORE DOWN AND BUILT ABOUT 750 FEET OF WOODEN FENCING AT FIVE SEPARATE HOMES.

THEY DID MOWING WEED, EATING PAINTING.

THEY EVEN REMOVED A LARGE ABOVE GROUND SWIMMING POOL.

UM, AND THEY BUILT A WHEELCHAIR RAMP AVERAGES RESOURCE CENTER.

SO LET'S TALK ABOUT WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE BY THE NUMBERS.

SO FOR THIS YEAR'S BIG WEEK, THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 110 VOLUNTEERS CLOCKING ABOUT 704 VOLUNTEER HOURS.

THEY WERE MOVED ABOUT 80 YARDS OF DEBRIS FOR A TOTAL IMPACT OF ABOUT 18 DIFFERENT PROPERTIES.

SO WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE TO OUR COMMUNITY IS KIND OF IN THE HISTORY OF THIS PROGRAM, THEY'VE RETURNED OVER $400,000 OF EQUITY TO THESE HOMES.

AND THE TOTAL VALUE OF IMPROVEMENTS FOR THIS YEAR IS ABOUT A LITTLE OVER $27,000.

BUT WHEN WE TRY TO CALCULATE THE VALUE OF THIS PROGRAM OVER ITS HISTORY, YOU REALLY COULDN'T WRITE CAUSE WHAT KIND OF VALUE CAN YOU PLACE ON THE RELATIONSHIP THAT HAD BEEN BUILT, THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR MINISTRY, UM, AND JUST THE CONNECTIONS THAT THIS PROGRAM HAS FORCED IN OUR COMMUNITY.

SO THAT VALUE IS TRULY, UM, PRICELESS.

SO IT WAS REALLY NEAT THAT MR. DANIEL FOSTER PICTURED HERE IN THIS PICTURE, HE RETURNED, HE WAS AN EARLY YOUTH PASTOR AT HIGH POINT BAPTIST.

SO HE RETURNED FOR THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY AND ALSO A YOUTH GROUP AT HILLCREST.

THEY BROUGHT A GROUP OVER TO VOLUNTEER.

SO IT WAS REALLY NEAT TO SEE DIFFERENT CHURCHES PARTNERING WITH HIGH POINT BAPTIST.

AND THIS IS A QUOTE FROM ONE OF THE VOLUNTEERS THAT WORKED DURING BIG WEEK.

THIS IS PASTOR TOBY, STEVE MAYER, AND ALL THE MISSION, CEDAR HILL WORKERS AND VOLUNTEERS, ROBIN.

I TELL YOU WHAT GUYS THAT'S A CITY WORTH LIVING IN.

AND YOU GUYS GO THE EXTRA MILE YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR, BY SIGNING UP BY BRINGING YOUR FRIENDS, BY BRINGING YOUR CHURCHES BY BRINGING YOUR ABILITIES, BRINGING YOUR TOOLS, AND WE, WE MAKE CEDAR HILL WHAT IT IS.

WELL, THIS AUGUST 21ST IS NATIONAL SENIOR CITIZENS DAY FOR THE UNITED STATES.

AND THROUGHOUT OUR HISTORY, ACTIVE SENIORS HAVE ACHIEVED A LOT FOR OUR FAMILIES, OUR COMMUNITIES, AND OUR COUNTRY THAT REMAINS TRUE TODAY.

AND IT GIVES US EMPA REASONS FOR THIS YEAR TO RESERVE A SPECIAL MONTH IN HONOR, OF THE ACT OF SENIORS, WHO MEANS SO MUCH TO OUR LAND.

WHEREAS ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 18TH FROM 10:00 AM TO 1:00 PM, THE CITY OF CEDAR HERE WILL HOST A SENIOR INFORMATION AND WELLNESS EXPO FOR OUR SENIORS AT ALLEN RECREATION CENTER.

MANY SENIOR CITIZENS ARE EMBARKING ON SECOND CAREERS, GIVING YOUNGER AMERICANS AS FINE EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITY, RESOURCEFULNESS COMPETENCE, AND DETERMINATION, MORE THAN THREE AND A HALF MILLION PLUS SENIORS ARE SERVING AS VOLUNTEERS IN VARIOUS PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS THAT BENEFITS EVERY SECTOR OF OUR SOCIETY.

WHEREVER THE NEED EXISTS AFTER SENIORS ARE MAKING THE PRESENCE FELT FOR THEIR OWN GOOD AND BAD.

YOU KNOW, IT WAS AMAZING THAT, UH, WHEN THIS AWARD WAS AWARDED, WE WERE IN FULL BLOWN COVID RESPONSE.

AND SO, UM, THE TIMING OF IT AND, AND BEING HERE TODAY, UM, THIS WAS THE WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY THAT WE COULD COME AND REALLY CELEBRATE THE AWARD.

AND SO VERY PROUD OF WHAT WE WERE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH OVER THIS LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF THE REGIONAL COOPERATION AND THE WAY WE DO THINGS HERE IN CEDAR HILL.

AND A LOT OF THAT'S BASED ON THE SUPPORT THAT THE COUNCIL GIVES US AND THE DIRECTION THAT YOU GIVE US THE, TO BE VERY ENGAGED.

I THINK WHEN WE LOOK AT HOW FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES FLOURISH IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT, IT INVOLVES PEOPLE IN RELATIONSHIPS.

AND A LOT OF THOSE RELATIONSHIPS IN EMERGENCY SERVICES GO OUTSIDE OUR CITY LIMITS.

AND ONE OF THE VALUES AND DIRECTED THAT'S MADE CLEAR THROUGHOUT OUR COMMUNITY IS THAT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS ENGAGED AND NOT JUST ENGAGED WITH OUR COMMUNITY, BUT ENGAGED WITH THE COMMUNITIES THAT SURROUND US.

AND WE REALLY SHARE CHAIRS THAT PARTNERSHIP.

AND WE'RE ABLE TO REALLY LEVERAGE THIS YEAR TO BRIDE, UH, SERVICES DURING COVID RESPONSE.

UH, IT'S A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH THAT I THINK THE WHOLE REGION LOOKS AT US FOR RESPONSE WHEN, WHEN THEY HAVE AN ISSUE.

AND WE'RE LITERALLY ONE OF THE FIRST NUMBERS THEY CALL ANYTIME.

THERE'S A PROBLEM HERE IN THE REGION.

UM, AND FOR THESE EFFORTS, THE NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENT HAS RECOGNIZED THE CITY OF CEDAR HILL AND OUR REGIONAL PARTNERS FOR THAT RELATIONSHIP, UM, BE RELATIONSHIP.

A LOT OF WHAT THEY USE AS THE BASIS FOR THE AWARD WAS THE REGIONAL TRAINING CONCEPT AND OUR EMERGENCY MANAGER PROGRAM AND HOW WE WERE ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS AND GET INTO THE COVID RESPONSE, WHETHER THAT WAS TESTING OR VACCINATION.

I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THOSE AREAS BEFORE I

PRESENT THE AWARD, UH, THE FAIR PARK VACCINATION SITE, UH, WHEN THAT WAS, UH, FIRST STOOD UP.

UH, ONE OF THE FIRST CALLS WE GOT WAS HOW CAN SOUTHWEST REGION GET INVOLVED AND HELP WITH THAT? UH, WE WERE ABLE TO GET INVOLVED IN A LOT OF OUR FIREFIGHTERS THAT ARE PRESENT HERE TODAY.

WE'RE ABLE TO HELP MANAGE THAT AND TAKE THAT PROGRAM FROM 2000 SHOTS A DAY TO 10,000 SHOTS A DAY, THAT PROGRAM CURRENTLY, UH, HAS DONE THIS SECOND, UM, AMOUNT OF VACCINATIONS IN THE COUNTRY, UH, WITH OVER HALF A MILLION PEOPLE VACCINATED, THE HOME-BOUND VACCINATION PROGRAM WAS SOMETHING WE WERE APPROACHED BY THE STATE THAT WE NEED TO ROLL OUT A PROGRAM.

WE'D LIKE TO START IT HERE IN THE GREAT SOUTHWEST CITY.

UH, WE USED OUR POSITIONING AND WE'RE ABLE TO START IT RIGHT HERE IN CEDAR HILL.

AND WE WERE ABLE TO GO, UH, DOPE TO HOME-BOUND PATIENTS HOMES AND, AND ADMINISTER THE VACCINE, UM, THAT PROGRAM STILL GOING TODAY.

UH, CHIEF HARRISON ADMINISTERED THE VACCINE TODAY TO A PERSON, UH, THAT WAS, UM, WAS BLIND AND HOME-BOUND AND WENT TO THEIR HOUSE AND HAD MANAGED TO DO THAT SHOT TODAY THIS AFTERNOON.

SO THAT'S A PROGRAM THAT'S STILL GOING, THE NURSING HOME, COVID TESTING ANOTHER PROGRAM THAT WE REVOLVED IN, NOT JUST HERE IN THE, UH, GREAT SOUTHWEST, BUT ALL ACROSS THE METROPLEX.

AND ONE OF THE FIRST NURSING HOMES TO BE TESTED WAS THERE ON SOUTH PARK ROAD BECAUSE OF THAT RELATIONSHIP.

UH, THE DISPATCH STAFFING, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT, UH, WE WERE POSITIONED FOR WAS WE HAD A LOT OF ISSUES EARLY ON WITH, WITH DISPATCH BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS CALLING NINE 11, NOT SURE WHAT TO DO.

SO ONE OF THE PROGRAMS WE PUT IN PLACE WITH PUTTING FIREFIGHTERS IN DISPATCH TO TRIAGE THESE CALLS.

SO WE DIDN'T RUN OUT OF RESOURCES.

UH, THAT PROGRAM ALSO WAS USED WHEN DISPATCHER WERE HIT WITH COVID AND DISPATCHERS WERE OUT SICK.

OUR FIREFIGHTERS STAFFED THE DISPATCH CENTERS, SO WE COULD KEEP EMERGENCY SERVICES UP AND RUNNING HERE IN, IN THIS REGION.

UH, THE ELLIS DAVIS TESTING SITE, UH, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE ADMIT, UH, RECEIVED COVID TESTING THROUGH THE PROGRAM THEN THROUGH OUR, OUR FOLKS AND THEN THE JOINT TIFF MIS AND HURRICANE RESPONSE, UH, NOT ONLY WERE WE HIT WITH THE PANDEMIC, WE HAD A LOT OF LOCAL STATE EMERGENCIES AS WELL, THAT OUR FOLKS WERE ABLE TO, UM, RESPOND AND, AND HELP OUT ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

I THINK WE'VE BEEN, UH, ALL ACROSS TEXAS AND IN SEVERAL STATES THIS YEAR AS PART OF THOSE PROGRAMS, UH, ALL OF THAT, WHICH IS REIMBURSED BACK TO THE CITY, BUT IT ALLOWS US TO TRAIN ON SOMEONE ELSE'S EVENT AND BRING THAT BACK HOME.

SO I REALLY WANT TO, UM, IN RECEIVING THIS AWARD AND, AND PRESENTING THE AWARD TO THE MAYOR, I WANT TO SAY, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT, THE GRINDS AND THE DIRECTION THAT YOU GIVE OUR DEPARTMENT AND THE VALUE THAT YOU SEE IN ALLOWING US TO RESPOND AND, UH, PROVIDE THESE SERVICES, NOT JUST HERE IN CEDAR HILL, BUT OUTSIDE OUR CITY LIMITS.

UM, WHEN I LOOK AT THE PARKING SPACES AND THE TOTAL COUNT, THERE'S 34 PARKING SPACES THAT ARE IN THE REAR OF THE BUILDING THAT ARE IN, INCLUDE THEM IN THE ACCOUNT.

UM, I GO TO HOME DEPOT, UH, LIVED IN SECRET HALL FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

THOSE SPACES ARE NEVER USED, AND IT IS AN INCONVENIENCE TO PARK BACK THERE, WALK ALL THE WAY AROUND THE STORE BECAUSE THERE'S NO ENTRANCE IN THE BACK.

SO MY CONCERN IS THAT THAT'S IN THE TOTAL COUNT FOR THE PARKING, BUT THAT'S NOT PARKING THAT WILL BE UTILIZED BECAUSE THERE'S NO WAY FOR A CONSUMER TO ENTER THE STORE FROM THE REAR TO HELP THEM WALK ALL THE WAY AROUND.

AND IF THEY DO THAT, THEY MAY GO TO ANOTHER HOME DEPOT OUTSIDE OF CEDAR HILL.

UM, IS THERE ANY WAY THAT YOU CAN MAKE THAT PARKING AVAILABLE FOR THE EMPLOYEES AND THEN MAKE THAT EMPLOYEE PARKING WITH LIGHTS AND CAMERAS AND MAKE IT THAT SAFE AREA FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES TO PARK AND THEREFORE FREE UP MORE SPACES IN THE FRONT FOR CONSUMERS.

THERE'S ALSO THE EMPLOYEES OF THE CHICK-FIL-A WHO UTILIZE MULTIPLE PARKING SPACES AND EMPLOYEES FOR THE OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS IN THE, IN THE AREA.

I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE THAT THAT IS HOME DEPOT'S PURPOSE FOR THOSE.

I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY WERE GOING TO LIGHT THEM OR ADD CAMERAS TO THOSE AREAS.

UH, HOWEVER, IF COUNSEL WOULD LIKE TO ADD TO THAT TO Y'ALL'S RECOMMENDATIONS, I THINK THAT'S NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL.

AND JUST ONE LAST THING THAT THE 39 SPACES FOR THE PARKING SPACES, HOW DID YOU ARRIVE AT THAT FOR SALES, FOR DISPLAY AREA? WHY NOT 30 PARKING SPACES? UM, THAT WAS LEFT UP TO HOME DEPOT'S PLANNING DEPARTMENT? UM, NOT SOMETHING THAT WE HAD, ANY, ANY INCLINATION ON.

UM, OKAY.

AND THEN I HOPE THAT YOU ALSO HAVE THE ADDITIONAL SIGNAGE YOU BRING IN NEW SALES EXPERIENCE WITH THE RENTALS OF THE TOOLS AND ALSO OF THE E MARCH VEHICLES THAT IF, UH, THE CURRENTLY ISN'T ANY SIGNAGE DIRECTING CUSTOMERS TO RETURN THE VEHICLES TO A CERTAIN OR WHERE TO GO FOR THAT.

AND, UM, JUST SO THAT THERE'S NOT, THERE'S NOT A LOT OF SPACE THAT FIRE LANE IS A MINIMUM OF 24 FEET.

AND WHEN YOU HAVE ADDITIONAL PARK, WHEN YOU HAVE PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYING TO PICK UP ITEMS FROM THE GARDEN CENTER, THAT WEST END OF THE BUILDING, UM, WITH THE ADDITIONAL STRUCTURE IS GOING TO BE A CHALLENGE FOR PEOPLE FOR ACCESSING.

AND THAT WOULD NOT WHAT THERE'D BE ANY SAFETY CONCERNS BECAUSE OF THAT NARROW INTEREST IN PEOPLE TRY THE PACK AS THEY, AS PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO ENTER AN EXIT.

IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT I DON'T BELIEVE HOME DEPOT IS PROPOSING ANYTHING FOR THAT.
