UM, THEY WORK 24 HOURS A DAY IF THEY HAVE TO, UM, WE HAVE MAIN BREAKS, SEWER BREAKS ALL OVER THE PLACE.

UM, AND THESE ARE THE GUYS THAT ARE TAKING CARE OF THAT.

UM, OUR ENGINEERING STAFF IS IMPLEMENTING THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PRO PROGRAM.

UM, WE HAVE GIS AS WELL THAT PROVIDES MAPPING SUPPORT TO ALL THE DEPARTMENTS.

I'M VERY PROUD OF THE WORK THEY DO ALL YEAR, BUT MAYBE MORE REMARKABLE THIS YEAR WAS THE WINTER EVENT THAT WE HAD.

UM, YOU KNOW, IT LASTED ALMOST A WEEK AND IT TOOK ALL WEEK, UH, FOR OUR GUYS TO BE OUT THERE DOING A LOT OF THE SANDING, UH, KEEPING THE STREETS PASSABLE.

UM, SO THESE ARE THE GUYS THAT DO THAT, MY HATS OFF TO EVERY ONE OF THEM.

AND AGAIN, I APPRECIATE THE PROCLAMATION ON BEHALF OF OUR PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.

I THINK WE ALL KNEW IT WAS GOING TO PRESENT THIS ONE.

SO GUYS REMEMBER, HEY, OKAY.

WELL, I'LL TELL YOU, YOU KNOW, BOTH OF THESE DEPARTMENTS ARE REALLY IMPORTANT TO THE CITY.

AND OF COURSE, WHEN WE TALK ABOUT PUBLIC SAFETY, WE ALSO TALK ABOUT BUILDING SAFETY AND THAT'S KIND OF WHAT WAS REAL EASY TO GET MIXED UP HERE, AS FAR AS THESE TWO DEPARTMENTS AND WHAT THEY DO FOR THE CITY.

UH, CAN'T GO A WHOLE LOT LONGER ON THIS BECAUSE THIS PROCLAMATION IS GOING TO TAKE ME 30 MINUTES TO READ.

SO, SO I HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF A PROCLAMATION TO, UH, UH, FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR FOR THE BUILDINGS.

SO WHAT HAS THE CITY OF CEDAR HILL TEXAS IS COMMITTED TO, UH, RECOGNIZING THAT OUR GROWTH AND STRENGTH DEPENDS ON THE SAFETY AND, AND ECONOMIC VALUE OF THE HOMES, BUILDINGS, AND INFRASTRUCTURE THAT WILL SERVE OUR CITIZENS BOTH IN EVERYDAY LIFE AND IN TIMES OF DISASTER.

SO THAT WAS THE FIRST THING I ASKED BARBARA.

WHEN I CAME ON COUNCIL, I WANT TO SEE MONEY PUT INTO THE PARK AND REC.

SO OUR CHILDREN CAN HAVE EXPERIENCE IN DIFFERENT CULTURES AND DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES BECAUSE IT REALLY HELPS THEN JUST TO HAVE A BASKETBALL IN THEIR HAND AT THE REC CENTER.

SO I'M VERY PLEASED THAT WE HAVE DOING A PROGRAM WHERE THE S THE CITY IS SPONSORING SO MANY KIDS THERE AT THE REC CENTER, SO THEY WILL BE ABLE TO, UH, BE SUPERVISED.

AND THAT WAS ONE ISSUE THAT I HAD WITH CHILDREN COMING TO THE REC CENTER AND NOT BEING SUPERVISED.

SO WITH THIS PROGRAM, UM, THEY WERE PLEASED THAT THEY WILL BE SUPERVISED, LEARN DIFFERENT, UH, ASPECTS OF, UH, ACTIVITIES THERE.

MY CONCERN WAS THAT THE PEOPLE OF CEDAR HILL, WE HAVE THESE STANDARDS, AND I THINK THAT, UM, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE'LL NEED TO ADDRESS WITH CITY STAFF AND PLANNING AS WE GO FORWARD TO EXPAND OUR STANDARDS BECAUSE LIFE HAS CHANGED OVER THIS SHOW HAS SHOWED US LIFE HAS CHANGED AND MAY NOT GO BACK.

AS YOU MENTIONED THAT PEOPLE WANT TO USE MORE DRIVE-INS AND DRIVE THROUGHS, WE'RE STILL OPERATING UNDERSTANDINGS WHERE PEOPLE, THE MCDONALD'S WITH THE PLAYGROUNDS AND WHERE YOU HAVE THE DINING EXPERIENCE.

IF THESE TWO LOCATIONS ARE, ARE GOING TO BE PRIMARILY DRIVE THROUGH, WE NEED TO UPSTATE, UH, UPDATE OUR STANDARDS.
