IT'S GREAT TO SEE YOU.

UM, AS YOU KNOW, WE'RE IN THE THICK OF SPRING, SO WE'VE GOT ALL THE FOOD GROUPS RECORD, COLD STORMS, HOT, UH, THE WHOLE BIT, UH, SPEAKING OF WHICH PEOPLE ARE CONTINUING TO DO THEIR SPRING CLEANING.

AND, UH, WE WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT A WASTE MANAGEMENT'S RUNNING A COUPLE OF DAYS BEHIND IN, UM, WEEK THREE, WHICH WILL MAKE THEM A COUPLE OF DAYS BEHIND IN BULK AND A BRUSH PICKUP FOR WEEK FOUR.

SO THAT'S THE SOUTHEAST RIGHT NOW.

A QUADRANT WOULD BE THE NORTHEAST QUADRANT FOR, FOR WEEK FOUR.

SO THEY, UH, I BELIEVE THEY'VE GOT EVERY TRUCK AND CREW MOVING.

AND THIS IS THE USUAL TIME WHEN WE SEE, UM, AND EXTORT AN EXTRAORDINARILY LARGE AMOUNT OF BULK AS PEOPLE DO THEIR SPRING CLEANING.

I THINK WE'RE ALSO SEEING THE RESIDUAL EFFECTS OF PEOPLE DOING HOME IMPROVEMENTS AND REPAIRS FROM, UH, PLUMBING LEAKS AND THINGS THAT OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF THE WINTER STORM IN FEBRUARY.

UH, WE SHOULD BE BACK ON TRACK, UH, IN A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER NEXT WEEK AND THEN HAVE EVERYTHING BACK ON SCHEDULE.

UH, BEGINNING WITH THE CALENDAR SATURDAY MAY 1ST IS OF COURSE, UH, ELECTION DAY FOR, UH, LOCAL ELECTIONS.

UH, TUESDAY, MAY 4TH IS, UH, THE FIRST WORKSHOP, A SPECIAL WORKSHOP THAT WE'LL HAVE, UH, FOR THE CITY COUNCIL.

UM, WE HAVE, IT'S ACTUALLY A DOUBLE HEADER WORKSHOP.

WE'LL BE HANDLING TWO ITEMS. THE FIRST ONE WILL BE TO RECEIVE AN UPDATE ON THE DESIGN, SPECIFICALLY THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR BUILDING MATERIALS, UH, FOR THE NEW LIBRARY, UH, IN THE CARPETS, UH, WILL BE BUILT, UH, JUST NEXT DOOR TO US HERE.

AND THEN THE SECOND ITEM OF THE NIGHT WILL FEATURE THE LATEST INFORMATION ON A TEXT DOT'S LOOP, NINE PROJECT AND THEIR PROGRESS TOWARDS GETTING TO A FINAL ALIGNMENT RECOMMENDATION.

SO WE'LL BE HANDLING BOTH OF THOSE ITEMS, UH, ON, UH, NEXT TUESDAY, MAY 4TH.

IT WILL BE 6:00 PM AND WE'LL BE ON THE, UH, IN THE THIRD FLOOR TRAINING ROOM, UH, HERE AT, UH, UH, THE GOVERNMENT CENTER ON THURSDAY, MAY SIX IS NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER.

THERE WILL BE TWO EVENTS AS HAS BEEN THE CUSTOM OF CEDAR HILL.

FIRST ONE WILL BE, UM, A SESSION, UH, HOSTED BY THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH FROM NOON TO ONE.

AND THEN THE, THE BIG EVENT OF THE EVENING WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE ALANY SIMS RECREATION CENTER, UH, ON THE BACK PATIO.

UM, AGAIN AT 7:00 PM, THAT'S MAY 6TH, UH, ON FRIDAY, MAY 7TH, THAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR FOLKS, UH, WISHING TO APPLY FOR A SERVICE WITH ONE OF OUR BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS, AND, UH, THEN THE PROCESS FOR VETTING THOSE AND GETTING THEM ON THE CALENDAR FOR APPOINTMENTS WILL TAKE PLACE IN, UH, IN JUNE, UH, FRIDAY, MAY 10TH, UH, CEDAR HILL POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL BE HOSTING A MEMORIAL CEREMONY AT THE GRADY LAND BUILDING.

WE'LL PUT MORE INFORMATION ON TIMES AND, UH, ADDITIONAL DETAILS ON THAT ON THE COUNSEL'S CALENDAR.

UH, FOLLOWING THIS MEETING TUESDAY, MAY 11TH IS OUR NEXT REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING.

UH, THURSDAY, MAY 13TH IS A VERY IMPORTANT DAY FOR US.

WE'LL BE RESUMING OUR PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY IN OUR PARKS IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE COMPLETION OF PARKING IMPROVEMENTS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS.

UH, THIS ONE WILL BE, UH, HOSTED AT WINDSOR PARK AND IN THE WINDSOR PARK.

SO DIVISION AND WE'LL CELEBRATE THE NEWLY COMPLETED NEIGHBORHOOD PARK UPGRADE, UM, THAT, UH, WAS COMPLETED, UH, IN THAT, IN THAT PARK ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2017, UH, BOND, UH, PROGRAM, UH, FRIDAY, MAY 14TH, ZERO POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL BE HOSTING YOUR ANNUAL AWARD CEREMONY THIS YEAR.

IT WILL BE VIRTUAL.

AND AGAIN, WE'LL PUT THAT ON YOUR CALENDAR WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

SHORTLY TUESDAY, MAY 18TH WILL BE OUR NEXT, UH, BUDGET WORKSHOP OF THE FISCAL YEAR 22 BUDGET DEVELOPMENT PROCESS, UH, THAT WILL TAKE PLACE AT 6:00 PM AND THEN WE WILL COVER THE WATER AND SEWER BUDGET DURING THAT WORKSHOP.

AND THEN ALSO A PREK PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING MAY 9TH THROUGH THE 15TH AS NATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WEEK HERE IN CEDAR HILL.

UH, WE HAVE ONE PUBLIC HEARING RELATED TO A DEVELOPMENT ITEM.

TONIGHT IS A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR ALCOHOL BEVERAGE SELLS IN ASSOCIATION WITH A RESTAURANT.

IT IS, UH, RELATED TO, UH, MOZA ITALIA EXPRESS AND GRILL, WHICH IS LOCATED IN HILLSIDE, UH, VILLAGE MALL.

UH, WE HAVE A CONSENT AGENDA TONIGHT WITH SEVERAL ITEMS ON IT, UH, BEGINNING WITH, UH, AN AUTHORIZATION OF THE MAYOR TO SIGN A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE READINESS GROUP TO PROVIDE SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH OUR, UM, GRANT PROGRAM AND, UH, OUR FIRST RESPONDER MENTAL HEALTH RESILIENCY PROGRAM.

SOMETHING WE'VE BEEN VERY PROUD OF AND THAT WE WILL ALSO BE WORKING TO EXTEND INTO ANOTHER YEAR.

UH, THE SECOND ITEM IS TO CONSIDER PROVING A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION, UH, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023 SOLID WASTE, UM, IMPLEMENTATION GRANTS.

WE'VE USED THESE IN THE PAST AUGMENT THINGS THAT OUR BEST BOARD HAS DONE AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL, UM, AWARENESS PROGRAMS IN OUR CITY, UH, ITEM C IS TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO INTER UH, TO EXECUTE IN OUR LOCAL AGREEMENT THAT DALLAS COUNTY, THIS WILL EXTEND, UH, ADDITIONAL, UH, HEALTH SERVICES THAT THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT PROVIDES TO OUR CITIZENS WITHIN OUR CITY.

A RESOLUTE ITEM D IS A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE AWARD OF FIRST RESPONDER SPONSOR.

MENTAL HEALTH RESILIENCY PROGRAM WILL BE THE NEXT PHASE OF FUNDING FOR THIS REGIONAL PROGRAM THAT AS YOU KNOW, UH, CEDAR HILL PILOTED, UH, IN CONJUNCTION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE STATE, UH, FOR THESE SERVICES TO OUR ALL IMPORTANT FIRST RESPONDERS, IME IS A FINAL PLAT RELATED TO FOR SINGLE FAMILY, RESIDENTIAL WATTS ON NORTH LOOP DRIVE ITEM F IS A REVISED SITE PLAN FOR A PIECE OF PROPERTY IN OUR INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT IN AMERICAN WAY.

INDUSTRIAL PARK FINAL ITEM OF THE NIGHT ON THE CONSENT AGENDA IS THE ADOPTION OF THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE.

OUR FIRE MARSHALL WAS HERE AT THE LAST COUNCIL MEETING AND PROVIDED YOU WITH A BRIEFING, UH, WITH THAT CODE IN THE ITEMS THAT ARE IN IT.

UH, JUST WANNA, UM, FIRST INTRODUCE THE TEAM THAT WE HAVE, UH, FOR THE TOURISM, WHICH IS A DIRECTOR, RUSSELL REED IS THE DIRECTOR OF EXPERIENCE MYSELF AS DESTINATION MARKETING MANAGER, AS WELL AS CHRISTY HARRIS, WHO IS OUR CUSTOMER AND VISITOR EXPERIENCE COORDINATOR.

SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO KIND OF LET YOU KNOW, UM, WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING IN THE PAST YEAR AND JUST GIVING YOU A HEADS UP.

WHEN PEOPLE COME, I KEEP GOING TO BUSINESSES AND HOTELS AND THE ATTRACTIONS AND LET YOU KNOW, WANTING FEEDBACK OF WHAT PEOPLE ARE THINKING WHEN THEY COME AND LETTING VISITORS KNOW TO CONTACT US IF THEY HAVE ANY PROBLEMS SO WE CAN CORRECT ANYTHING, BUT IN THE PREMIERE, WE KIND OF COVER ALL OF THEM.

UM, EVEN THE SCHOOLS CAUSE PEOPLE LOOK AT, YOU KNOW, POSSIBLY MOVING HERE WHEN THEY COME VISIT, WHICH A LOT OF PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE WITH CEDAR HILL.

SO WE COVER ALL OF THESE THAT WE'RE SAFE AND WE'RE CLEAN AND WE'RE DISTINCTIVE AND A STRONG AND DIVERSE ECONOMY.

SO I WANTED TO KIND OF DO A BRIEF AGENDA.

THIS IS WHAT WE'RE GOING TO KIND OF COVER, WHICH IS OUR TOURISM TEAM INTERNAL REVIEW, WHICH IS BASICALLY WHAT WE'VE DONE INTERNALLY WITH OUR TEAM, OUR PRINT AND DIGITAL ADVERTISING, OUR MARKETING CAMPAIGNS THAT WE'VE DONE OUR SOCIAL AND EMAIL PLATFORMS. AND THEN ALSO LOOKING FORWARD, FIRST OF ALL, AS YOU KNOW, WITH COVID, UH, WE HAD TO HAVE A COMPLETE HALT IN TOURISM LAST YEAR IN MARCH.

SO OUR HOTELS, UM, DRASTICALLY LOWERED THEIR VACANCIES, I MEAN THERE.

AND SO, UM, THEY HAD TO KIND OF SCROUNGE.

AND SO WE HAD TO, UH, KIND OF, YOU KNOW, KIND OF REDIRECT WHAT WE'RE DOING IN OUR MARKETING EFFORTS TO HELP PEOPLE JUST FEEL SAFE IN THE ENVIRONMENT THAT THEY ARE.

SO WE INCREASED OUR DIGITAL PRESENCE AND WE DID A LOT OF VIRTUAL CAMPAIGNS, WHICH YOU'LL SEE IN THE MARKETING CAMPAIGNS, UM, DURING THE, UH, THE SNOW BID, UM, BEING IN TOURISM, WE DID PROVIDE THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE HOSPITALITY FOR THE STAFF THAT WERE WORKING THE WHOLE WEEK 24 SEVEN.

SO WE TRIED TO PROVIDE MEALS AND PROVIDING WHAT WE DO FOR HOSPITALITY, WHICH WE KIND OF PICK THAT UP A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER THE WEEK STARTED.

SO, UM, AFTER THAT, WE KIND OF TOOK OVER, MADE SURE, BUT HE WAS FED.

AND ALSO WITH THE RELATIONSHIPS WE HAVE WITH THE HOTELS, IF PEOPLE NEEDED SOMEWHERE TO STAY, I WORKED VERY CLOSELY WITH THE HOTELS TO TRY AND COORDINATE HOTEL ROOMS SO THAT, UM, WE TRIED TO NOT HAVE ANYBODY BE WITHOUT SHELTER THAT NEEDED IT, OR DIDN'T HAVE ELECTRICITY OR WATER.

SO WE KIND OF MADE SURE THAT EVERYBODY'S TAKEN CARE OF AND OUR HOTELS WERE ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP WITH US ON THAT.

UM, AND MAKE SURE WE HAVE SOME ROOMS. SO THE FIRST THING I WANT TO GO THROUGH WAS IS OUR, UM, TEAM INTERNAL REVIEW.

SO THIS IS KIND OF GOES THROUGH BRIEFLY.

UM, RIGHT NOW THE FIRST THING WE DID AND JUNE, I STARTED IN MY POSITION ON JUNE 1ST.

SO ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS THAT WE DID WAS KIND OF REFRESH THE WEBSITE.

SO WE WANTED TO KIND OF DO SOMETHING THAT WAS A LITTLE BIT, USER-FRIENDLY A NEW DESIGN.

WE ACTUALLY WENT ON OUR OWN TYPE OF WEBSITES.

SO WE'RE HIGHLIGHTING THE VARIOUS ATTRIBUTES OF THE CITY.

AND IF YOU VISITED THE SITE, UM, WE HAVE WAYS OF WE'RE SHOWING AND HIGHLIGHTING DOWNTOWN AND SHOPPING AND GATHERING AND STAYING IN THE HOTELS AND OUTDOORS.

SO WE WANTED TO TRY AND MAKE IT EASY FOR PEOPLE TO FIND INFORMATION.

IN ADDITION TO THAT, WHICH IS SOMETHING WE'VE HAD IS OUR APP.

SO IT IS ACTUALLY OFF OF THE WEBSITE, WHICH THE BOTTOM IMAGE SHOWS THERE.

SO WE'VE PROBABLY GOT A GOOD REACH OF OVER 200,000 FROM ALL FIVE OF US TOGETHER.

AND SO WE ACTUALLY ARE WORKING ON SEASON TWO.

AND THEN IDEA FAIR.

ALL FIVE OF US SUBMITTED IN TO WHICH WE SHOULD HAVE DONE AT ONE FOR ALL FIVE, BUT WE DID ALL FIVE OF US.

WE WERE TRYING TO PUSH IT OUT TO GET NOTICED.

UM, BUT WE ENDED UP WINNING FOUR AWARDS FOR ALL OF OUR, SO METRO VIDEOS, WE WON BEST CO-OP MARKETING, BEST VIDEO CAMPAIGN, BEST TOURISM BRANDING AND ADVERTISING AND JUDGES CHOICE.

SO WE WERE ACTUALLY USE AS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW CITIES COME TOGETHER TO CO-OP MARKETING OUR CITIES BECAUSE WE'RE NOT IN COMPETITION.

EVERYBODY GOES EVERYWHERE.

AND SO WE REALLY PUSHED THE FACT THAT IF YOU STAY IN ONE, YOU CAN ENJOY ALL THE OTHER ONES.

AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE IT GOES.

SO WE'VE REALLY BEEN PUSHING A LOT AND EVERYTHING THAT I POSTED WAS ALL OF THEIR INFORMATION AND EACH ONE OF THEM.

UM, AND EVERY DAY THROUGH THE WHOLE ENTIRE MONTH, THERE WAS A POST ALTERNATING BETWEEN A BUSINESS, AN EMPLOYEE, UM, A HISPANIC FIGURE THAT WAS IN THE ARTS MUSIC OR SCIENCE THAT WAS RECOGNIZED.

AND ALSO ON THE WEEKENDS ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS, I JUST POSTED SOME LATIN TYPE OF RECIPES THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE LIKED.

AND WE GOT A LOT OF SHARES AND LIKES FOR THE RECIPES THAT PEOPLE ENJOYED.

I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO DO A PLANE AMBASSADOR PROGRAM OR A WELCOME GROUP OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

I WANTED SOMETHING THAT KIND OF REALLY PAID HOMAGE TO THE CITY.

AND SO BEING THE TOWERS AS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT THING HERE, WE JUST NAMED IT, THE TOWERS TEAM.

SO BEING CEDAR HILL TOWERS TEAM, THIS IS THE GROUP THAT WOULD BE AN AMBASSADOR, THE CHEERLEADERS, THE PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE REPRESENTING US.

UM, IF WE NEEDED TO ADD EVENTS, THIS HAS PRESENT RELEVANCE AS WELL AS FUTURE.

UH, THE PRESENT WOULD BE A VOLUNTEER PROGRAM FOR CITY DEPARTMENTS IN CASE THEY NEED A SYSTEM FOR VOLUNTEERS LIKE PARKS, LIBRARY, UM, ADMINISTRATIVE, UM, IF THEY'RE NEEDING AND WE CAN DO ONE DATABASE.

SO IT WOULD HAVE A WHOLE GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT THEY COULD JUST CHOOSE.

WHAT THEY WANT TO VOLUNTEER FOR.

THE ADVANTAGE WOULD BE THEY WOULD HAVE AN INSIGHT IN CITY ACTIVITIES AND ALSO A CONNECTION WITH CITY EMPLOYEES THEY CAN SERVE.

IF WE'RE, YOU KNOW, UH, WITH EDC AND TOURISM, WE'RE ALWAYS TRYING TO GET FEEDBACK OF HOW WE CAN BETTER OURSELVES.

SO THIS WILL GIVE US FOCUS GROUPS THAT WE CAN EMAIL OUT TO EVERYBODY OR TEXTS, OR WHEN YOU SAY, HEY, WE'RE NEEDING A FOCUS GROUP ON XYZ.

WE ACTUALLY HAVE A DATABASE THAT WE CAN HAVE THEM COME IN, FEED THEM A LUNCH AND GET SOME FEEDBACK ABOUT CEDAR HILLS SO THAT WE CAN BETTER OUR PROGRAMS AND OUR MARKETING.

AND IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO BE, I MEAN, PEOPLE ARE ALREADY PLANNING OUT TO 2024.
